I don't think you can map it to the phone button. However, for most other buttons you can try AE Button Plus or Spb Pocket Plus 4.

I just did it and it works.

Let me make it more clear...

Download this registry editor: http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities...ryeditor.shtml

Go to Hkey_Local_Machine -> \Software\Microsoft\Today\keys\

Create a new key and name it 113.

Inside that, there should be two strings...(create them if they don't exist).

The first one, name Default and under data put Contacts

The second name Open and under data put the path to iconctact.exe (say \My Documents\icontact.exe for example)

Or you could try this - I use it and it works like a charm. Just unzip the applet to the \windows directory and it will appear under settings.

\windows directory

You have to soft rest after you move that to the windows file.

Did you try using AE Button Plus to do it? I don't see why that wouldn't work - the button is definitely mappable.

mseck 10-27-2007 06:34 PM

what is the parth for windows File? from ppc or pc

mseck 10-29-2007 04:27 PM

Thanks for the help Walla

BUT all i had to do was to go to :
Hkey_Local_USER -> \Software\Microsoft\Today\keys\
Then just change the folder where i put the Icontact.exe

Your were helpful tho

I have tried both editing the registry & using the soft key file and am not able to change the right soft key. I have the ppc 6800 with the threaded sms installed. Can anyone help?

Pibe38 11-01-2007 12:34 AM

Have you tried AE Button Plus, Spb Pocket Plus 4, or SK Tools?

Those programs are going to be a kind of over kill for me. I dont want any extras just to change my right soft key to open the icontact exe

Pibe38 11-01-2007 01:51 AM

If both the registry edits and the softkey file didn't work, there's nothing else we can do but recommend applications to do this.

Can't do magic yet ;)

AE Button Plus is designed only to assign buttons to functions, so I don't see the overkill there. And SK Tools is a program that most users will recommend to have.

have you tryed :

Hkey_Local_USER -> \Software\Microsoft\Today\keys\
Then just change the folder where i put the Icontact.exe

Iam a rookie at this and it was pretty easy to me

HKCU (Current User) perhaps?

IIRC, Local User does not exist and Local Machine is not the right directory.

cgordonn 11-25-2007 09:52 PM

I have just started messing around with the today screen softkeys on my new Sprint Touch. Just so I know how to go back to original settings, what is the default contact app called (i.e. the default app that is launched when the default contacts softkey is pressed)?

Thanks!
