Going overseas to Spain/Portugal/Italy

Hey everyone. I will be going to Spain/Portugal/Italy for about 3 weeks. Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the options I have. Is this phone strictly CDMA (thanks to Verizon) or can I find ROM's or applications that allow connections to foreign providers. Should I just get a new phone all together there? Or should I just do the skype things and pay for WiFi?

The phone is only cdma from htc. Others options in addition to TP2 are imagio, ozone, saga, and omnia II. But you cheapest bet is to buy a used gsm phone like the kaiser/AT&T tilt for like $50 on ebay, unlock it and use it over seas.
