System 32 screen loads when I connect to the computer

Here is a weird one. Whenever I connect my Imagio to my computer (Win 7, 64) via the sync cable, The screen for Windows/system32 pops up. Does this happen to anyone else? How do I stop it?

I'm running Win 7, 64 bit and using the cable to sync with my Imagio also. I have not seen the issue you're having. Mine is working fine. Since I've not seen it I don't have any suggestions.

i too get this, its from the auto run loading and there is a split disconnect (for whatever reason) forcing the screen to go to that folder for whatever reason. then the phone reconnects, but doesnt open up the correct window. its prob just a win 7 bug and may get resolved as time goes on.

Have you disabled any startup items or services using msconfig?

i have not changed any settings or services. iv noticed this both on my desktop (win 7 64) and my laptop (win 7 x86).

i also think its cause its not a typical removable storage as it shows up as a device and does not have a drive letter.

I wonder why I'm not seeing this. My workstation is Win 7 Ultimate 64 and my laptop is win 7 professional 32 and its not happening on either of these machines.

It has to do with Windows Mobile device center and a registry entry.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run (On your PC of course) and post what is there.

I didn't get it either until recently. I was assuming it was caused by the My Mobile program but it persists even after I uninstalled it.

You may be on to something. After a reboot of my desktop, nothing happenned when I connected my phone until I ran the Windows Mobile Device Center. The System 32 screen then popped up. By the way, the screen pops up again when I unplug the Imagio, even after I exit from the Mobile Device Center.

In the registry there are 3 settings:
(Default)......(value not set)
Kernal and hardware abstract layer.........KHALMNPR.exe
Windows Mobile Device Center........%windir%\WindowsMobile\wmdc.exe

I am getting the exact same thing on a Windows 7 ultimate (32-bit) install. The system 32 folder opens on both connect and disconnect of my phone. I first noticed it occuring after installing Mobile Registry editor on my pc, this could be coincidence though as I was making several changes to my machine at the time.

Strange, laptop and workstation both running 7x64 ultimate with no problems and I've reinstalled my laptop a couple of times... Sorry about your luck and I hope you can get your issue resolved.

I don't have this problem, but I did find a forum thread elsewhere that had someone resolve this buy going to these 2 keys and changing the values from blank to putting a space in the fields.

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AutoStartOnConnect

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AutoStartOnDisconnect

Give it a shot, restart and see if that helps. This is on your PC of course, not the mobile device.

And here is one from a Microsoft forum post that suggests deleting a key from both of these, but it doesn't specify what exactly. Take a look and see what you think.

Thank you! It works. On each of these keys, right click the "(default)," select "modify", and change the value to two blank spaces. I did not need a reboot.
