Windows Button Jammed/Broken

Hey guys,

I've had my phone for 5 weeks now so I am 7 days past my 30 day return and my windows button seems to be jammed/broken. I just took it out of my pocket and it won't depress. If I push it really hard it makes a connection but this is just unacceptable.

Anyone else have a similar problem, fix or solution to replace my phone? I doubt Verizon is willing to bend their 30day rules at all for me.

Thanks,
Sean

Should'nt matter about your 30 day, if the buttons jammed and broke they should have to replace the phone.

You still have a warranty, as it pertains to the phone working. Now if the moisture tab is discolored you will be screwed without insurance.

Hey SeanGonzo, I have the same issue. My END button wont depress and this also happened after I took it out of my pocket. I went to verizon and they are replacing mine and it shouldnt matter if you passed your 30days since each phone comes with a yr manufactures warranty.

My girlfriend has the phone. Same problems with both her menu button and call end button. I've been trying to get her to go replace the phone, but she hasn't done it yet.

she also has a lot of light leaking around the screen. The display seems like it was cut a little to small for the phone. Can anyone comment on the quality of theirs? Anyone else have this problem?

If you search here on the forums there are posts about the gap you are speaking of. I am glad to say mine works fine and doesn't have these issues, but a lot of folks are seeing them.

I had the same problem with my End/Power button. I was at my 25th or so day so I got mine replaced for free. I just will take it easy on my buttons from now on.

So I just got my replacement and they sent me a "Like New" replacment phone through the suport team because my local Verizon store said they did not offer support in store. I took off the wrapper and did a little investigation and saw multiple scratches all over the screen and buttons. Obviously I dont want to keep this replacement but it that always the case for replacement phones that you get a refurbished device?

My girlfriend has received a number of replacement phones over the years and never have they had these kinds of scratches.

I'll have to give Verizon a call.

Thanks.

Re: Windows Button Jammed/Broken

just got my replacement yesterday and it had small scratches on the buttons, my original had none. I went from Fed Ex to nearest Verizon store and showed the manager and he said it is supposed to be new and to ignore the "like new" sticker. I showed him my old phone that I kept the buttons perfect on and he said no problem we'll send you a new one. Now it's been a few days to get this one and a couple more to get another. The biggest pain in the ass is the setup on these things. I'm doing minimal changes on this since it's temporary.

Ok thanks for that info. I was really surpised. I've had a screen protector on since day one so it would suck to have to replace a it with a scratched screen.

Anyone actually know why these buttons are breaking?

Re: Windows Button Jammed/Broken

They get stuck because the plastic button is sitting on top of a sticky foam pad. Under that foam pad is a tiny pressure contact. sitting on top of that pressure contact is a small circular piece of plastic thats no bigger in diameter than the printed O on your O key. The button gets "Stuck" when the lil piece of plastic slides off the top of the contact. The only thing to push down the pressure contact is the backside of the sticky foam. Only way to fix this is to take the entire phone apart and reseat the plastic but that voids your warrenty.

I feel like this is a common issue. It may not be the same timing for everyone, but it seems to be pervasive. What are we going to do when our warranties are up? This issue should probably be brought to the attention of HTC. We need a product recall, methinks. I am going to set up a poll in another thread to see if others are having this issue- please vote!

I am now on my third one, I completely refused the first one they sent it was scratched then buffed out so intestead of a scratch you get the fish eye deal - distortion. no longer than the phone has been out I can't believe the replacements look as bad as they do.

I'm now on my 4th Imagio after 8 months. My end call key keeps getting stuck. I'm told Verizon no longer honors the policy of getting a different model phone after your 3rd warranty issue. Is this true?

Anyone suggest a class action lawsuit against VZ or HTC? This issue is really starting to aggravate me.

Yeah I went through 5 Diamonds and because they are out of stock, I am now getting the Imagio tomorrow... I have been reading all of the threads trying to get on track for what I want to do. I'm excited to put MyCleanImagio on it but scared about the button issues...

Verizon always honors the 3 replacements inside of 90 days qualifies you for a new phone.

Re: Windows Button Jammed/Broken

I found this forum and had to sign up just to post about this. I have had an Imagio from the first day they were offered on the Verizon website. In a few days when it gets here I'll be on my 3rd phone. The first 2 have all had this same issue with a button become jammed/broken.

When I talked to Verizon technical support over the weekend I was told they had never heard of this problem before and could guarantee that, since it isn't a known issue, I would not experience it again. This is the same thing I was told the first time I had the issue.

I'm on my fourth Imagio because of this problem...

Re: Windows Button Jammed/Broken

I recently got a brand new replacement Imagio (because I was within 30 days and the first one's power button was making a squishing noise), and the buttons on it seem to be a little more robust than older Imagios. It seems like the newer build Imagios might have fixed the problem...the serial number on it starts with HT9BTM and the EPST shows a manufacture date of November 2009.

I have had three Imagios replaced, twice for the button problem you describe.

New one finally works well, hopefully it continues
