finger keyboard 2.1 works great, just search for it on this website or xda-developers.

Re: On screen keyboard sux!
It's not free but spb keyboard is the one i use. I have a tp2 and I don't even use the physical keyboard that often. It has a free trial to test it out.

Re: On screen keyboard sux!
Try using BIGkeys w/ Finger Keyboard. I find this layout & size is really easy and fast to type.

Re: On screen keyboard sux!
The stock keyboard really works great, you just have to let go and trust it. Stop worrying about pressing the correct key all the time, just do whats natural and it will figure out the rest.
Finger keyboard is okay, but its not easy to turn the Xt9 on and off, and the auto correction doesn't work with it. I have always used TouchPal since I got my vogue years ago, but I recently tried using the stock keyboard and noticed its just as easy and fast to use, and actually doesn't have some of the weird quirks TouchPal has. |
Re: On screen keyboard sux!
Yeah I love TouchPal as well, especially since you don't have to toggle to get numbers, the tap and slide feature for caps and numbers is awesome.

Um, I don't know if everyone knows this or not, but you don't have to toggle to get numbers, if you hold the key down for longer than 1 second, it will then pop up the options for a Number, symbol or the letter. I discovered this on accident.

Re: On screen keyboard sux!
Yes this is true, but I guess I should have said TouchPal does it nicer with a click and drag down to get the number from that key rather than the delayed hold then pressing another key. I just prefer the functionality of TouchPal, but it is different and has a little learning curve to it.

Re: On screen keyboard sux!
I have big fingers and I have no problem with the on screen keyboard. It is a hugggge improvement from what I used on the Samsung Omnia.

Re: On screen keyboard sux!
I like this keyboard alot, and i really like how you can access the non english characters by holding the letters for a sec. It accurate, but im not lol.. i was so used to compensating to the left or right on my omnia due to the bad digitizer that i find myself doing it on this phone and misspelling words.

Re: On screen keyboard sux!
I must say I loved the TP2 onscreen keyboard. I could fly without any error correction. Now my Imagio seems more sensitive or something because I make errors left and right with the htc keyboard. Sure I can use the error correction which helps but I was still frustrated.
Someone told me about touchpal and said to use the two letters per key combo. I know this sounds lame and I always hated the blackberry's with this keyboard but it's awesome once you get used to it. Once you get used to hitting the word up top it finds for you, you end up hitting less keys. Also, you can use the keyboard like a full qwerty and not hit the word above the keys it finds and that almost works everytime as well. I must say using the TouchPal keyboard that has two letters on each key is my new way to fly I think. The only downside I've found is seperate menu for arrows and sometimes if you are trying to use a new word for the first time that is someone's name or a strange business name, it must learn that. |
Re: On screen keyboard sux!
I prefer the phone keypad on t9. I can fly with it only thing is that it takes a little practice to get good at in that you can type almost faster than you can keep an eye on the predictive text bar and if your not careful you can enter the wrong word.
I especIally like the updates on this one in that it has the common punctuation symbols right on the main screen. THE ONLY TWO PROBLEMS I HAVE IS I CAN'T SEEM TO MAKE THE PHONE KEYPAD THE DEFAULT KEYBOARD AND IT ISN'T EVEN AVAILABLE IN HORIZONTAL MODE AT ALL! MY 6900 THERE WERE SETTINGS FOR THIS BUT I CAN'T FIND THEM ON THE IMAGIO. ANY THOUGHTS? TIRED OF HAVING TO MANUALLY SWITCH TO MY PREFERRED KEYBOARD 10 TIMES A MESSAGE. ALSO IS THERE A WAY TO ADD THE PHONE KEYPAD IN THE HORIZONTAL MODE? THANKS |
