Proximity sensor not working
I've had my Imagio since it came out, and the sensor hasn't worked once. I'm not sure why it's happening, because it seems my case (leather one from verizon) has a cutout for it, and even without the case it doesn't work.
Does anyone know what I can check to see why it's not working? Normally I wouldn't really care, but since the imagio doesn't have a dedicated lock button I can't just shut off the screen when I take a call, and I've had countless accidental button presses. The problem has persisted through several hard resets, and even a rom re-flash, so I'm at a loss for options here. :( |
Re: Proximity sensor not working
Sounds like a possible hardware issue then. Mine works perfectly, no issues ever with it. I can feel the phone vibrate when it goes off when I put it up to my ear. I'd take it to the Verizon store and get it swapped out.

The proximity sensor is what turns the screen off when you are in a call, right?

Yes, it is.

Re: Proximity sensor not working
i wish they had an alternate way to relock the screen when on a call.. I think one of the other htc dialers had something like that.. Or maybe there is a way to do it but i just havent figured it out lol..

Re: Proximity sensor not working
I think it isn't proximity, it is a light sensor. Mine is working perfectly, and cHangeScreen allows you to calibrate and set up some more options for it.

Re: Proximity sensor not working
Well, I was playing around with it at work, and it DOES work, I just have to completely cover the sensor with my finger. Putting up to my ear (with or without case) does nothing, so I guess it is really just a light sensor.
I'm gonna give cHangeScreen a shot, I'll report back what happens. :) |

mine doesn't work either, let us know what you come up with... |
Re: Proximity sensor not working
Mine wasn't working either... For some reason, there's some settings in Advanced Config that were NOT enabled on a hard reset. The Light Sensor options were as follows:
Light Sensor polling: disabled Light Sensor polling interval: 0 Light Sensor threshold: 0 Light Sensor threshold to turn screen off: 0 I've changed these settings to Enabled, 100, 1, and 1, respectively. Seems to have fixed it. I haven't tested it while using something other than TouchFlo3D, however. Also, the light sensor only seems to work while in a call. Otherwise, it does nothing. |
Re: Proximity sensor not working
Mine works when I place it in my pocket and holster...

Is 1 the lowest threshold though, or can you make it more sensitive? |
Re: Proximity sensor not working
How do I get to these advanced settings? I'm not using touchflo...

Re: Proximity sensor not working
Slack3r,
I'm not exactly sure as to what unit the threshold is in. I would assume the higher the number is, the more stimulus it needs to respond. I think "0" indicates it is turned off, but haven't actually tried it. I was more concerned as to why the light sensor was disabled on a hard reset (or maybe it's disabled on some phones and not others?) Just try different number combinations with the light sensor enabled. The fact that there are two different thresholds, one for generic use and one for turning the screen off, tells me there's other uses for the light sensor. I have no idea what they would be though. Re: Proximity sensor not working
Got it working, but only when held up to my right ear, doesn't work on my left side (which is how I like to use it)...I'll try tweaking those settings some more...

Are these reg changes? If so where will I find them?
