Re: Anyone considering returning?

i gotta say i've been seriously considering it.

1) i'm not married to winmo for any reason. for those of you tied to exchange, that IS supported in android and it's getting better all the time. maybe it doesn't do contacts and/or calendar but i'm sure it will soon. add to that the fact that i'm SURE there's a way to do it indirectly. sorry, as a former exchange admin, i have a bit of an issue with people who make it sound like you gotta have winmo to work with exchange.

2) there WILL be an official (HTC) android 2.0 release for the eris. i'll skip the moto droid as it's god awfully ugly.

i'm having a tough time deciding. the imagio is really a great device. i'm not having the memory probs other people mentioned and i'm running the various mods/tweaks so i start off with about 50% free.

i AM starting to notice the battery life issues. maybe i was more religious about plugging it in when i first got it but i definitely can't go as long on the stock battery as i'd like.

those are just my thoughts and my 30 days are nearing their conclusion.

It sounds like some of you all who are unhappy with the device because of the battery life or speed or whatever aren't trying to hack it. There are tons of hacks for the Diamond/Pro that should still work with this device to make it like sex on a pancake.

also, from what i've been seeing, the hacks tend to more be cross-pollinated between TP2 and the imagio rather than with older generations of hardware.

maybe you have some specific examples?

At this point I have a dillema. I just found out that, despite being told several times by Verizon and HTC that there was not going to be anymore TP2s, the TP2 is in stock on VZW's website. I'm also told that VZW is going to announce all of the phones that are coming out in the immediate future tomorrow. I'm hoping that the Dragon (Passion) will be one of them. I don't mind the (slightly) larger size for a unit with a multi-touch screen that's over 4 inches and the SnapDragon chipset. That phone could be ugly as sin and I would still want it.

Re: Anyone considering returning?

I have decided to return mine. I have about 4 days left. It just does not do it. Battery seems fine, I do miss a keyboard. I liked the specs on the camera, but the speed makes it worthless! I have kids and to make the stay still for focus is impossible.

There just is not enough support to keep it going versus the huge gang over at the TP2

But I am stuck right now between TP2 and Moto Droid. I do not hear the best on the Droid keyboard, but it is still a keyboard that the the Imagio does not have and the TP2 is big. The Droid is even thinner than the Imagio. I am not writing novels.

The Droid has the voice Google search and free voice navigation. The docks look great and convenient. Plus using the car doc and making it more like a true GPS, maybe my wife will stop yelling at me for playing with my phone while driving!

Tough choice, but the Droid seems to be winning.

But leave Microsoft, confused?

Here is my microsoft pda history after quitting Palm V:
HP Jornada
Samsung i700
XV6700
Titan
Touch Pro
Imagio (short)
Now TP2 or Droid

Will I miss cooking the ROMs
