Add City to Weather Tab - Fully Functioning Work-Around 1-File Edit
OK, I've tried a ton of different ways to change both the home screen weather and weather tab city, and none really worked too well. I tried Conflipper's version, but I didn't like the fact that it changed it to his server, so I got rid of that.
Now on to my fix. I used Total Commander and went to HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila and opened Weather.CityList and changed the city text that was in there from NAM|US|CA|HUNTINGTON BEACH to my actual city NAM|US|CA|SEAL BEACH. Here's the strange part. I saved and exited, but when I went to the weather tab, it seemed to restart and loaded all the default cities that are populated on a hard-reset. So I went to remove location, and deleted all 5 I could (Tapei, London, etc.) and when I hit save, the city I entered into the Weather.CityList populated and was working perfectly, even after soft-reset. Hopefully this will help someone else, I'm not sure if it will, but just what seemed to work for me. Good Luck! |

Crap, doesn't work here. It did what you said, restarted and added the defaults, but when I removed them I only had "My Location".

Try changing the Weather.HasMyLocation to disable and then change the other file. Take a look at all those files in that folder as most of the mare pretty self explanatory and can help with a ton of other questions.
Sorry it didn't work for you, but alot can be said for trial and error. There's about 4-5 files in the Manila folder that have to do with the Weather, so try changing them. Remember, messing around with the Registry can have serious adverse effects on the operability of your phone, so make sure you back up everything in case you need to restore your device. Good Luck! |

as far as i know the weather app does not use the gps, it gets its location from the tower the phone is connected to.

It doesn't matter whether we can use the My Location option to get weather for our current location. If I am out of state, I want to see my city's weather. That cannot be done with current location.
So, let's work on getting this working. I edited all of the weather related keys under HTC\Manila, and it doesn't work. There is a database on the phone that contains all of the cities, and it has to be manually edited to add yours. Or you can use Conflipper's server, which may not be reliable, and then when it goes down you are stuck. Hopefully uninstalling it restores the defaults. |

Has anyone tried using SQLite Database Browser 2.0 to open/edit the 2330fc3c_manila file. I am new to all this so I do not fully understand how to use it. I have attached the file if anyone wants to take a crack at it.
