Carrier unlock woes
My beloved Imagio has been nothing but trouble since I moved to India on a project.
I forgot to get the SIM unlocked before I moved and now I can't call them to do it coz my company suspended service on my phone. So I tried to get the unlock code through a website by giving my IMEI number and they sent me a code. I don't know where to enter that code. I guessed it must be PIN1. So I switched to GSM only, inserted local SIM, restarted the phone. But it didn't prompt me to enter anycode; just said SIM not valid switching to CDMA. I pray, somebody help me, for i'm stuck here unable to use my phone and incapable of buying a new phone coz they cost an arm. Thanks in advance for the help/suggestions |
Re: Carrier unlock woes
go to settings, personel, security and it will prompt to enter code

Re: Carrier unlock woes
Please confirm if that works. I will be traveling to India soon and am not on Verizon, and hence have to purchase a SIM unlock code online. Thanks! BTW, did you buy your code from eBay or elsewhere?

Is there a way I can use a CDMA provider!!!! |
Re: Carrier unlock woes
I am using Aircel, all sim should work fine
go to personal > phone > change mode from Global to GSM/UMTS only and NO CDMA providers in India will not work,CDMA provisioning of Verizon or any US CDMA carrier is very different from that of India, I havent tried though, |

If you are going to India there is one more thing that you need to do. In your phone setting, GSM tab, go to Caller ID and get settings. You shouldn't be blocking anyone. Send to all is the options. Apparently the law in India. Now my AIRTEL works perfectly fine. Thanks everyone for your support. |
Re: Carrier unlock woes
Thanks! Will remember to do so.
How are you two dialing numbers in India? I store my numbers using the plus code (+1 xxx-yyy-zzz for US numbers, +91 xx yyyyyyyy for India numbers, etc). Will the phone work correctly in India? I am using the registry tweak mentioned at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359674 to be able to dial using the plus code from the U.S. I am using Energy ROM that does not have Assisted Dialing. |
Re: Carrier unlock woes
dude just use it like a regular indian phone... cheers
