Battery Trick From HTC

I found this on the HTC Evo forum (looking into the Evo) and thought someone may want to try this on their Imagio since out batteries are terrible. It comes directly from HTC...

I've been doing something similar all along, except for the power off part. My impression is that the Imagio battery is fine, it's the software gauge that is screwed up. Forcing a few recharges seems to make the gauge much more accurate.

I re-flashed about 2 days ago due to a screw up on my part, didn't recharge it that night, and the phone claimed to be at a "critical" (9%) level the next morning. It worked fine all day long and never died. It also never dipped below that reported 9%. In my case, it's definitely the gauge software that's at fault :-)

Good tip regardless. Would be interesting to know if anyone really sees a 2x increase in battery life, and how often these steps need to be taken to make that happen!

I've seen something like this, too. Sudden drops in the battery gauge followed by extended periods where it doesn't move. Sometimes it correlates to my usage, sometimes not.

That's so dumb. As much as we spend on these things, shouldn't have to do "tricks" to make them work for us.

yet another un-wanted, yet fully paid-for feature of the HTC crapmagio, the 'ol hide-and-seek battery gauge gag. anywho, i'm trying this hare-brain scheme thing now, and almost done so i'll report back so whoever barfed-up this sick practical joke fix can laugh at yet another dreary-eyed, hopeful sucker.

Well I think battery problems seem to be inherent to high resolution HTC devices. This "fix" was not for the Imagio - it was for the Evo. But I posted here in hopes that it will help someone. I have heard of the same battery woes from Nexus One owners (also a HTC device).

The battery life should be better. There's only 14 hours left in the damn day.
This is stupid. It's a lipo battery. The SOC is easily calculated by the voltage in the pack. cellphone's don't have the best voltage meters in them, but good enough.
