PSA: Don't hard reset on Monday mornings.

I just thought I'd share my experience... I reset my phone around 1am Monday morning, and found out it wouldn't activate. So I called Verizon, and apparently they do weekly maintenance from 12am-6am on Monday mornings, and during that time nobody can either activate their phones or access their accounts. The guy I talked to was extremely helpful though, and managed to get my phone up and running even though he didn't have access to the system. :p

So anyway, I didn't know this, and I figured it would be a good heads up to everyone considering it. :D

Haha, sounds like another case of customer care white lies to me. There's not a specific regular time they take down the OTA servers for maintenance. Also when they are down, it's never more than an hour as far as planned maintenance goes.

It didn't sound like he was making stuff up, because I couldn't log onto the site myself, and programming with *228 failed several times. I reset my phone around 1am, but I waited until 4am to call, since I still couldn't activate it then and wanted to sleep. Also I don't think it was the OTA servers, as I could connect to them and start the programming process, but it would fail.

It makes sense though, statistically very early Morning is probably the least likely chance for anyone to be awake.

I get up at 330am for work and have had this happen to me before when I would try to change phones(*228) and got a recording that said I needed to call cs. So I don't doubt it.
