Re: How to switch from 3G/EVDO to 1x?
3g has the potential to use less power &higher data rates & voice.
it rarely works out that way. it typically uses FAR more power in most areas (2-4x), tho it is faster. staying in 2g will use less power provided you can suffer through the lower bandwidth; which is the vast majority of the time. Just use WMLonglife & trust me. Also your battery life sitting still is likely to go through the roof VS what you get on the stock phone. Stock phone that likes staying on 3G all the time is like 150-300mah draw. Make a few tweaks and youll see 70-150 most of the time. (till a 3G application has WMLongLife swap to 3G). i like it cause it stays in 2G so i can get email/weather updates every 15-30min without destroying the batterylife. yet you start up a real program that you whitelist & it runs fine. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478519 |
Re: How to switch from 3G/EVDO to 1x?
Frankly, this has gotten pretty confusing with the "3G" branding. What 3G refers to is EVDO Rev. A, which is less prominent than EVDO Rev. 0. I'm pretty sure the Imagio will try to seek Rev. A over Rev. 0, so disabling Rev. A may be helpful if your Rev. A coverage isn't that great. Just change the Rev. A setting in that same screen (Modem Settings) to Disable.
A minor correction to my instructions from earlier, HDR Hybrid does not necessarily need to be disabled, if you're want 1X, it won't hurt either way, but if you want Rev. 0, you might want to enable it. As my Imagio isn't active, I can't confirm what exactly that setting does. |
