Imagio included in Apple's suit against HTC

Anyone know why Steve Jobs has a problem with our Imagio? From what I've read, it seems to have something to do with a chip inside the phone. But I don't know what that means.

Jobs can have my Imagio when he pries it from my cold, dead hands.

Here's a full list of all the patents supposedly infringed:

This one is hilarious:
Quote:

Patent #7,657,849: Unlocking A Device By Performing Gestures On An Unlock Image

This one's cute 'cause it's brand new -- seriously, it was just granted on February 2. It's almost exactly what it says on the tin: it covers unlocking a touchscreen device by moving an unlock image. It's broad enough for us to say that it covers virtually every unlock behavior we've seen on phones, not just the iPhone's slide-to-unlock implementation.
I mean, seriously Apple?

I agree with you Seminolefan, the wife and I were thinking of switching to ATnT, but decided against it (thankfully). Outside of bad coverage, when the wife heard I didn't want the iPhone, but the HTC Pure she said why switch. When I looked at Verizon, found the Imagio and was hooked from the get go. I love this phone, and I have only had it for a few days (I know, newlywed syndrome). but I think this bad boy rocks the iPhone out of the water. Its more functional, serious, playful, and easier to use in my opinion.

This is so funny, it is like they are grasping at straws to make money, and it will take years if not decades to decide most of these. Remember back to the Intel / AMD days when they used to constantly sue each other over patent infringement?

But the Unlock one is so funny, it is so general, that HTC could actually turn around and sue Apple for making a Smart Phone just because they had one first!

Come on, lets get real here they should just settle down and make a better product, because face it, everything new is just something made a little different or even just packaged differently. That is one why I had to quit Intel, cause how many times can you design a new chip, after all while you are making it, you say this is the best that can be done, but once done you say that is not good enough, let's try it again! I love technology but that is how things are done, one person builds something cool and some else builds upon it, and then someone else builds upon that, otherwise everything would be the same old thing and nothing would improve.

So in closing, Apple, get over yourselves. You are not that good.

The slide-to-unlock patent seems to require a predefined path image.

The Imagio doesn't normally have such a path image... just the instructions to slide left or right.

More likely, it's involved because of the rubber-banding at the end of scrolling screens, which is a different patent in the lawsuit.

Its still bull to me, as outlandish as that whole slide to lock, should't they be suing gate manufacturers? After all, you have to slide to unlock and lock most of them! It's just a bunch of corporate freaks getting pissed becouse someone made something better.

And yes, I can't wait to put in a custom ROM. I am torn right now between putting in the new VZW listen in this ROM section, or waiting for the custom ROM everyone is talking about.
