ROM's, Kitchen's, etc.
I was hoping now that we are so close to the unlocker to get a single thread going on the how to's of rom building. I have done a good bit of searching but most of it is written by pro's speaking to pro's, so it is not much of a help to a noob when it comes to the rom part. I would like to get into the rom building if I can get the hang of it. I hope anybody in this section that can offer insight or tutorials for this would chime in and help.

Re: ROM's, Kitchen's, etc.
Yeah , I think a good kitchen with a lot of choices and the elimination of all the unwanted VZW bloatware would be great. That way if you don't want a lot of modifications you can keep it simple , or you can go all out with all the mods.

Yeah, this thread should be stickied so that we can easily find ROMs here.

Wirelessly posted (Imagio: Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50369; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)
I just want a clean 6.5.3 ROM with no Sense/TF3D. How can I build that? |

That's what I want too, something that starts off using maybe 30-40% of ram, because I have a lot of programs that I need to add to my phone. |
Re: ROM's, Kitchen's, etc.
My priorities for ROM:
1. DESTROY ALL VZW BLOATWARE. 2. Add any other memory tweaks that will save space/improve performance. 3. Incorporate Sense 2.5 I don't have a lot of free time for experimentation, so I'll probably just glom on to the first person who posts a ROM that meets that criteria. But if someone posts a good tutorial on cooking ROMs, I might just clear my calendar to give it try. Also, is that little project that's installing Android on the Imagio eventually going to result in a ROM? Cause that'd be cool. |
Re: ROM's, Kitchen's, etc.
I have been cooking ROMs for a long time now, and the setup that PPCG had with their official kitchen was excellent. We might want to resurrect it for this purpose. I found it quite easy to use and easy to update and customize.

Re: ROM's, Kitchen's, etc.
I've played around with ppck for imagio pre newest version and had errors with it but could build using the tools manually just not automated. While I'm not officially on the PPCK team (don't have time) I have made several fixes for them on other devices. I switched to VK for Imagio and will be using that as my kitchen. On the bloatware issue how many people use the Vcast-TV? Thats the only bloat item I plan to leave (other than VVM) as I am subscribed to it. Also, I'll be releasing a 2.5 manila rom for it very soon. As far as the memory leaks its not per se a vzw or imagio issue its a microsoft issue with the gwes.exe in the older 6.5 builds which will be lessened further with the newer sys's we can use in cooked roms.
