Well, you can do it for free. I do not know if Verizon approves of that. You will have to wrestle with that moral question for yourself. There is a great app made by Tom Codon that will turn your phone into a wireless hotspot. So, run his app. Connect to your phone from your laptop from your wifi connections (on your computer). Surf the internet.

PS- don't plug your phone into your computer with this method.

Make sure to post your thanks to Tom if you use this.

The other method is to pay Verizon $30 more a month (which i am doing for those "moral" issues i wrestle with) to use your phone as a modem. For $30 you get 5G of data. Lame.

I think i may have seen another solution on here- but can't remember. Maybe in the "Great Tweaks etc." section.

Good luck.

Couldn't agree more. This is definitely the best app out there for doing what you want to do. And it really shows off how fast Verizon is. Downloaded a 700mb TV episode via torrents using this program and it took 1 hour.

Another easy and already built-in method is go to your Windows folder and you will find a file called IntShrUI.exe and IntShrUI.lnk. That is the built-in Internet Sharing client. It works flawlessly. Just hit Connect and plug in the USB and after a quick driver install you are good to go.

Been using a program PDAnet for years, works fantastic, cost around 30.00 for life time. Since i pay 30.00 data to Verizon each month, i feel ok with my morals, These are just 3rd party programs. Its all about making money for Verizon, which can be understood, everything in life's about money, its a shame we live in a money hungry society

The shortcut get's put in "Start Menu\Settings\Connections". So go to your start menu. then go to settings. Then go to connections. It is called Wifi Internet Sharing.

I have read reports of no shortcut getting installed, if that is the case, you can use file explorer, start in My Device, open the Windows folder, scroll downs to CMInternetSharing (so the path would look like this:My Device\Windows\CMInternetSharing). Press down on CMInternet Sharing for a long time and a menu will pop up. Choose, "Send Shortcut to Programs."

I use the WM Wifi Router. I found it a long time ago on here. Created by Jorrit Jongma. It works awesome. It is a full application with an Icon and works great. I find the speed is better than some restaurant free wifi. Definitely faster than the ATT at McDonalds.

link for program is: http://www.jongma.org/WMWifiRouter/

I found CMInternet Sharing in the windows folder but the long press would not give me the option to send a shortcut to programs just to send as a email or mms message ect. At least I found the icon in the windows and got it up and running! I'm on the laptop now tethered through my phone...very cool. Thanks maisonpulaski
