Opera 10 beta 2

Ok.... can someone using Opera 10 beta 2 please tell me how to set the homepage? I cannot figure it out and the Opera website is no help. Everytime I launch Opera, I get an error screen that says "You tried to access the address 'file://localhost/home'."

I have looked in settings and throught the registry. I cannot find the location where I can set this.

A seemingly common issue:

9.7 seems to be the latest that works with the Imagio and the zoombar.

it's pretty sweet. The interface is really sleek. The problem I originally posted is really annoying though.

I am using Opera 10 Beta 2u and it works fine on the Imagio. The zoombar doesn't work. But the zoombar doesn't work on Skyfire either and probably won't work on any other Opera builds so who wants to get stuck on some old version just to keep the zoombar?

you can try it out. Install it, if you don't like it, uninstall it. It doesn't erase the original Opera browser that came on the phone (at least it didn't on mine).

Thanks what is the diff between 9.7 and 10 beta 2? Also where do you get 9.7

Been using Opera 10 beta for a while now, WAY better than the stock browser, zoom bar doesn't work but I don't miss it. Try it, you'll never go back....

Seems kind of sluggish to me. Definitly loads pages a bit slower. More so than 9_70 which I've been enjoying. Also not as smooth flowing as the older versions. I'm gonna mess with it some more, but have my doubts that it will be a keeper for me. Just my $.02

Re: Opera 10 beta 2

The zoombar does not work on purpose. Opera is going with a whole new paradigm of mobile browsing where there is only 1 level of zoom. Double click to zoom in, double click to zoom out. I was upset with this decision at first but I've found it works really well. Text colums are resized to fit based on your zoom level and screen size.

can not say i use the zoom bar alot but it is some times handy. Can you get the 9.7 off of the Opera website or how do you try that one?

Try this, I still prefer it over 10. Maybe I need to give 10 more time to grow on me.

35541 has that annoying glitch where it blurs the screen when you get an email/text requiring exit/restart of opera.

If you run into that on Imagio (highly likely) look for this version Opera_970.35443 which is the last 9.7 build not to glitch out like that AND also support zoom bar.

:)

I have not run into this glitch yet as far as I know. I do alot of browsing and get tons of email, so I dunno. As for the zoom bar, seems to be a love/hate situation. I prefer to not have it activated anyway and like using the magnifying glass at the bottom. To each their own . Gonna keep an eye peeled for that glitch tho.

Has anyone solved the poor guys problem that started this thread? We kinda high jacked his thread and turned it into an opera forum. I don't get the "local_host" error. But i also don't remember how to set the homepage or if i set the homepage or if it just took care of itself.

try to replicate by minimizing opera 9.7 then getting a sms/email but not reading in (ie. the notification/counter will increment)

now when you go back to opera the page is unreadable :( if you don't get it be thankful :)

install beta 3 for starters.

you can set homepage going to this url:

opera:config

homepage setting is there but o10 doesn't really have a homepage just the 9 panel grid

beta 2 is useless in comparison

Maisonpulaski, gcianc, and yatman60,

Thanks for your help guys. I thought I lost this one.

Beta 3 seems to fix the problem by setting the speed dial as the homepage which actually pretty nice b/c its like having 9 homepages to choose from. Thanks for the tip.

Beta 3 keeps crashing my phone, I'm using SenseUI 2.5 though, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

No issues here with Beta 3 on Sense 2.5.

Tested for a couple of hours now. Working pretty darn good for me. Forgot to try flash though. Doh! It is supposed to support flash. Right?

coolpoete 02-13-2010 10:24 PM

Re: Opera 10 beta 2

yeah, the flash actually works too. You have to go into the settings and turn on the plugins. Just a little choppy/buggy though. Not stable enough to replace a stand-alone player or stream with CorePlayer. But again, a step in the right direction. Not quite at the level of Skyfire yet, I'm sure they are working on that though so it's good to see it functioning on something other than Skyfire.

Actually I do still have the problem. This morning I launched it to check out the forums and I got the same error.

Have tried them all on this phone and thought opera mini V9b2 was the best browser for this phone , but after reading the opera 10 beta 3 thread over at xda and using it opera 10 beta 3 is the best . Try it.
