just as PDA?

Smart phone newbie here...

Can this phone be used as just a PDA. I am cheap and ornery and I can't stand almost doubling my bill for something I do not need. Boss will buy phone but not service. I need PDA with a decent camera and winmo 6 or better for my business apps. Since PDA's are nonexistent, its this or the Omnia 2 or Hero. Long and short= if I buy this phone (on Ebay) do I have to activate it to use the non phone funtions and wifi?

Thanks in advance

verizon will not allow you to have this device without the internet. I do not know if this applies when you purchase it outright, but on a contract to get the lower price the "Smartphone Email and web" plan for $30 is mandatory. Since you'd be getting it on Ebay it will work just fine without phone service if you are on wifi for apps requiring internet for the most part. So yes you can use it as a PDA exclusively.

FYI the Hero runs android, which is not what you are looking for.

I went through this last year. You cannot buy the phone from them outright like AT&T. You would have to buy a month to month plan & they will charge you the $30 for the data plan for the first month. You can then cancel your plan. However if you should ever activate the phone again you will be automatically charge for the $30 for the data plan.

You might be able to save your self some money & buy on off of ebay. Either way you will have to pay the $30 for the data plan if you would ever activate the phone. I don't know if VZW even has a PDA/Smartphone that you can have without a data plan anymore. The Vogue was the last one & I don't know if they offer it anymore.

Do you even have to activate the phone if you don't plan on using the phone/data..? I don't think so....

Buy it on ebay, turn off the phone/data, turn on the wireless and enjoy.
