Email Setup

Hi All , I am new - You will all figure that out soon enough. I just took my Imagio out of the box , charged it and tried to set up my verizon.net email but I am not having any luck. I have deleted and started over from scratch several times. The Email settings were taken straight from the internet. I keep getting a message that I have an incoming Email password. I put the password in and the message simply pops up again. Then finally after a few times I get a window that pops up that says I am unable to receive messages on the device and to check settings. What am I doing wrong ?

I have had a Blackberry for the last two years and never had any problems with setting up anything on it so I am bit frustrated as this thing is making me feel stupid not to mention the touch screen is a little hard to get used to . Any suggestions ?

Thanks !

Re: Email Setup

For a Verizon internet/SMTP email account . . .

1. Go into e-mail setup (Inbox - Menu - Tools - Options . . .)

2. Select your account (or create a new one) and touch the 'Edit Account Setup' link

3. You should know your email address - enter it on the first screen - Hit next

4. Enter your name and desired display name on the second screen - Hit Next

5. Incoming mail server: incoming.verizon.net - Type POP3 - Hit next

6. Enter your user name and password. Check the 'Save Password' Box

7. Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: outgoing.verizon.net - Check both boxes - Hit next

7a. Touch 'Advanced Server Settings' and make sure both boxes are unchecked - Network connection is "The Internet"

8. Next two screens are your preference and that should be it.

Re: Email Setup

UGHHHHHH !!!! I finally got it .... The problem was that my Verizon Email at home is set up through Yahoo therefore the incoming and outgoing settings had to say incoming.yahoo.verizon.net ect ..... instead of just verizon.net. I couldn't check the settings on my Blackberry because it is already inactivated - shoulda checked before I started. So I am good now !

Thank you for your help - I really appreciate it. I am SURE I will need more help in the very near future. Thanks again !!
