Bluetooth Pairing Problem - need help

My Imagio won't pair with the factory hands-free Bluetooth in my 2010 Nissan Frontier. Everything goes fine until I enter the requested PIN, at which point the Frontier tells me "invalid PIN". I'm entering the correct sequence.

The phone pairs ok with our 2007 Nissan Altima, and paired mostly-ok with my prior 2007 Nissan Sentra, other than the annoying but tolerable delayed hang-up problem that has been documented by others.

Our LG phones pair fine with the Frontier.

HTC tells me it is a Nissan problem. I was able to talk with a Nissan Bluetooth specialist who told me my phone has not yet been tested for compatibility (nor had the LG's that pair ok) and "probably is not compatible". Finger pointing both ways.

The phone pairs ok with the Altima and other hands-free devices.

I think it is related to the Imagio Bluetooth stack implementation coupled with a not-totally-compliant Nissan interface. I suspect that the phone is sending the PIN in some sort of data stream that confuses the Frontier receiver.

Does anyone have any suggestions for diagnosing this or making it work? Is there some sort of packet/frame monitor for Bluetooth available that would let me view the data packets being exchanged?

I'd really like to get this working...

Thanks,
Steve

I am having the same issue with my 2010 nissan maxima and my touch pro 2. I have tried my stock 6.1 wm as well as 6.5 wm roms and keep getting wrong passwords. On nissans website it says the t-mobile tp2 is currently in testing stage but I have no idea if they will ever provide a way to update the car.

Blue tooth pairing issues with a 2010 Nissan Maxima
This is unbelievable, but should work. At least, it worked for me with TP2 and 2010 Nissan. I have been searching for some time and finally found the answer. Just follow the steps, even if you don't think it is going to work.

Here are the steps to get it to work:

1. On phone, Open bluetooth

2. Choose left tab (settings)

3. Click on Advanced and choose Audio

4. Check the box "Play system sounds on remote handsfree device"

5. Click Done

6. Go to right tab (tools) and click on Networking Manager

7. Choose Create a Private Network and click continue

8. If the car is not listed, go to Menu, Show all devices (also enable the bluetooth in the car and say Add Phone)

9. Once the car shows up, choose it and it should give you the option to input the 1234 code...then you will be paired...

Has anyone had success with this procedure using the Imagio? I still can't pair my Imagio with my '10 Frontier. In Step 6, my Imagio does not have a Networking Manager menu.
I still get the "invalid PIN" response.

Re: Bluetooth Pairing Problem - need help

I have the HTC Imagio using WM 6.5 and same thing step 6 on the right tab (tools) it only shows "Print Images", "Business Card Exchange" and "BT Send Object". There is no option shown "Networking Manager Menu".
WM 6.5 uses BT Version 2.1 and WM 6.1 uses V2.0. Can the BT version be downgraded in WM 6.5 to from V2.1 to V2.0? The reason I ask is my old Samsung Omnia using 6.1 paired with my Nissan 2010 BT (w/o NAV) and works great. I had the phone and I would much rather use the HTC Imagio instead.

Re: Bluetooth Pairing Problem - need help

It may be of significance to note that BT v2.1 implements SSP "Secure Simple Pairing" which is a new feature from v2.0. V2.1 is supposed to also support legacy pairing, but maybe there is something inhibiting that process with the Nissan BT? I wonder if there is a registry setting that could disable SSP in the Imagio?
Can anyone tell what BT stack the Imagio uses? Mine shows both Microsoft and Widcomm sections in the registry.
I'm also wondering if it's possible to manually enter a BT pairing into the registry. It may be possible to get the vehicle pairing ID and other information using another phone (ex. the WM 6.1 phone).
Just posing some ideas... I'd sure like to find a solution for this.
