Quick GPS
My quick gps program opens up everytime I am in my office plugged into the sync cable. It says "socket not available". I cancel and it goes away. this is annoying. I am assuming that in one of my tweaks, I messed up a setting. A new fresh cab of the program would probably help. does anyone have one?

Quick GPS Rocks
I gotta say, Quick GPS is one of the great things about the Imagio. I've been following the Samsung Omnia II boards for a while at the Verizon support site, and everyone there complains of taking 5 or 6 minutes to get a gps lock from a cold start. We Imagio/Quick GPS users take, maybe, 30 seconds or so for the same cold lock startup. I haven't had the heart to tell the poor Samsung owners... :-({|=
"Quick GPS is software that is loaded on most HTC devices that have built-in GPS capability. QuickGPS is not a GPS program. It is program that acquires data via the internet (either by WiFi or other data connection) that provides the information that the GPS program needs about the GPS satellites that are in orbit on the NAVSTAR GPS system. Each satellite transmits data called ephemeral data that describes its orbit, its clocktime, and the frequency channel that it broadcasts on. If that data has been downloaded in advance using QuickGPS, it makes the first GPS position obtained when the GPS program is activated much quicker, because all of the ephemeral data does not have to be downloaded from each satellite that is being used to determine the position. If QuickGPS is not used, the first position fix could take 30 minutes or more. On some devices much more than 30 minutes is required. With QuickGPS working and being updated regularly, (a minimum of each 6 days and 23 hours), GPS works quickly and efficiently." http://www.htcwiki.com/page/GPS+Software |
