if you do a hard reset, everything gets erased.

Correct on the hard resetting, but i believe the OP is saying that his phone did the hard reset, not him.

That's odd. I have had my battery go dead once (completely) when I first got it and no information was lost.

Please update if you get any info on why this happens.

the phone is doing it itself when the battery dies...when I plug it in and power up it goes through the phone setup and I lose everything...I want to know if anyone else have had this problem and what I should do

Is the Rom stock. Where any changes made to the unit since you had it... if answer is no to any above your unit might be defective return to the store. Also update to the
156 run from the unit id you haven't already

No problems here when my phone completely dies. Other than having a dead phone.

Yes I'm running the stock Rom and I havent made any changes except a few apps and the firmware update...it did this before and after the update. So I don't know...maybe it is defective

Re: Phone Resetting?!?!

did it start doing it after the update or from the start? maybe download Sprint RUU and run that. or best thing is to go back and get a new one.
