No firmware update available
 

I have been trying since yesterday to update my Hero, but I keep getting the no update available message. I've turned the phone off, taken the battery out and nothing. Is there something wrong with my phone?? It's not rooted (couldn't get that to work either :( )

I am having the same problem as you, but mine is rooted on the modaco. Will I have to put it back to stock?

Place the Fresh .04 zip on sd card power down.... then End and Home button when you power up ...... Nandroid back up/ ....Wipe Factory Restore/factory Reset.... Apply sdcard:choose Zip choose the Fresh .04 zip reboot and your there

Also Godzson had a great find its a Reboot Manager . You can access all your needs without power down then powering up . its right from the app menu

I don't know what to do to get you the update but id really suggest you try rooting again its worth it and you'd be able to get the update too.

I was trying to use the instructions on www.theunlockr.com to root my phone and I could never get my XP computer to recognize the ADB files. I'm using a computer from work and I don't had admin rights, so I'm wondering if that could be my problem. I never can get the phone serial number to show in the cmd prompt screen.

You know, the phones don't come from the factory with RA's recovery image and Nandroid.

you should be able to find the RUU and connect it to your computer to update.
