how did it get rooted
 

I haven't seen a place that describes what was found or what was hacked to get to the point of the sprint hero being able to be rooted.

I'm 99.5% sure I'm going to be getting it and will be starting from scratch...I've been running customs roms for my touch pro for some time and now of the spl unlocking but what does it take with the hero?

Its actually a glitch that occurs when remounting the filesystem. Its a linux thing. It only take like 15 mins in the command prompt to make it happen.
