Well I did make a back up recovery image on my phone. I am new to the whole rooting deal with Android phones so I am waiting further instructions. Before my Hero I only messed with WM phones.

LET IT BE TRUE! I was just about to pay for pdanet. Now I will just use it until the trial runs out and there is some noob friendly guide on how to root the hero. This is my first android phone and have only messed with unlocking WM phones before.

I have a question. Do we need custom rom to remove / deactivate programs? Or even with root will they always be cooked in?
