Same here. I like how you can change the color of the notification icon. I set mine to black, looks real sharp.

I changed mine to black too, but it doesn't change to black on the home screen?

do you guys just turn off the notification on the handset for texts? I hate getting double notifications lol

yeah. just go in and turn off the settings for the standard sms app.

I think I saw that in settings. You may have to use the widget instead of the shortcut though. Look at the settings it says something about show count on widget and it is disabled by default.

Not yet, I would suggest writing Handcent and requesting this feature. They are always updating the app. I will do the same and maybe we will get somewhere.

having a weird issue with handcent. When I get texts from my girlfriend they are always from two different numbers. One will be "+1760#######" and another one will be from "+760#######" Anyone know why? Its kinda annoying because I have two threads in handcent for the same conversation with my gf. And its unpredictable which number her next text is going to come from

Sounds like she's using her other boyfriends phone to text you haha. Jk bro. I have no idea, maybe its on her side of the convo? Can you change her contact to include the 1 and maybe it will keep her in the same conversation with or without the 1 included.

ok maybe im just not getting it but how do you block the voicemail txt??? i pull the txt up and its blank and doesnt even show on my list of txts just in the top notification area.

Does the text not pop up when you choose it from your notifications or when it is sent? After it comes up respond to it then it will be a conversation you can blacklist.

Haha, naw the number is the same, its just that one has "+1" and the other is just "+" in front of the area code. She is texting from a hero as well, and I did try adding both those numbers to her under contacts and handcent still keeps the two convos separated depending on which number it sees the text coming from. Shes coming over in a while so i'm going to check out her phone and see if I can get it figured out.

Also just curious. Does the change led light option work for any of you? Tried changing it to red or orange and it is always green no matter what.

I was having the same exact problem last night. What you need to do is on the notification that pops up, quick reply something BACK to that number. You will get a message saying that it could not be sent, but this will make that message show up in the main screen of handcent, then you can long press on it and tell it to blacklist

i dont have popups enabled. should i enable it? when i try to reply to it in the notification dropdown it just gives me an unreplyable blank txt.

Yeah, enable popups just so you can get it blacklisted. Make sure that the "window mode" under "popup setting" is set to full, then just call yourself and leave a voicemail, then when you get the text a popup will come on screen and you can quick reply right there. Then go into the main menu of handcent and long press on the convo and tell it to blacklist. Then you can disable popups again like i did.

Yea the led option does nothing for me. Haha sucks it won't come up as the same number both times. Thats weak sauce. I have no idea what it could be. Is she using Handcent on her Hero too?

yup she is using handcent as well. Tried messing around with it and there is no rhyme or reason as to what number my phone sees the texts coming from or what number her phone sends the texts from. This doesn't happen on her phone? And it doesn't happen from other person? Sounds like maybe its the way hers sends it.

i know this supports MMS. but i am not getting the pics. when one comes in, i get a box that says DOWNLOAD, i hit it, it DLs it, but then i get no picture, but a button that looks like a play button in a box.....anyone else have this problem??


edit.. ok if i send myself a pic, after i hit download, i will get the pic......but with some people i get the play button box.....??

I get the pic, with a play button over it. I click the play button and sometimes the pic will show up.... for a split second.

I used to see that play button in the default app. I would have to save the pic then open it. Annoying 4 click process. But since switching to handcent pictures just show up as pictures.

Another Handcent question regarding integrating it into the stock apps...

Does anyone know how to get the Handcent SMS's to show up under the "people" SMS tab at the bottom of each user?

For instance if I pull up someone in PEOPLE that I SMS a lot it only shows the SMSs that I sent with the built in app...

I got a problem with my homescreen icon for handcent sms app. It's just shows it as a grey X on my homescreen. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it would come back fine, but when I power off and power on the phone it goes back to the Grey X. How do I fix this.

I had this problem. Uninstall reinstall and soft reset by powering down, not removing battery. Fixed mine!

Same problem here! I went to chomp just because of this. Chomp isnt too bad either but handcent is MUCH better. I just dont like that "x" problem
