Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem
I've not been able to receive a text in over 48 hours.
It seems like some files are not being removed when performing a factory reset as I had installed a sound board and after two factory resets I noticed some sound files were still on my phone. To me this indicates not all files are being removed correctly. I doubt the sound board messed anything up but this may indicate another app inadvertently did and the factory reset isn't cutting it as far as fixing the issue. Called Sprint and they offered to replace for free and also refreshed my syst settings which had zero impact. Also ran the update PRL, Firmware, and Profile updates as well and nothing. Edit: just like a WINMO phone a factory reset doesn't erase the contents of the sd card which is why the sound board files were there. 7 factory resets, several calls to tech support, everything seems fine on the network. I have zero ideas as to why this isn't fixed. Even loaded up a fresh factory Rom from xda for cdma sprint hero and yet I still can't receive texts though I can still send and make/receive calls and get online and download from market. I've also erased all info on the sd card. So I'm outta options this is getting returned and will wait for the moment. |
Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem
This worked for me, sounds odd but works. I got into fight with my girl, my friend thought I was dead until he "called" me cause I never responded to a bunch of texts. I never got the text from sprint mentioned but I'm receiving texts. I haven't gotten texts for many days until now, nyc area.

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem
thanks but sadly that didn't work for me either. I seen that previously and hesitated but went ahead and gave it a shot and didn't work and FYI none of the tech's thought of that...

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem
Please call tech support for this issue! They can help you I have called twice and it works for me, I guess I am going to try and look into a TP2 again. Hero is nice but I miss Winmo.

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem
have you tried NOT installing a task manager / killer?? that fixed it for me (after a factory reset to get rid of the junk) and texts come in fast and reliable now....
Speed is the same on my end, i did not need it after all. Well, good luck to everyone else, imma keep enjoying my Hero where i left off... |

Called twice total of 45 minutes on the phone with them and after my first factory reset I have stayed away from task managers! I had it on there initially but not after it crashed the first time. I have factory reset a total of 9 times now and some of the times I had zero apps installed and I had even formatted my sd card so I'm clueless. |
Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem
We have 2 heroes on our account, one had the issue and they deactivated the phone and then reactivated it and it worked, but the other stopped working. called again and had them do it to the 2nd line, then the 1st one stopped working again. they did a system reset through the dialer ##786# if i recall correctly. after that, both work fine. backup your apps.

Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem
Sorry it didn't work for you, I've been constantly testing with different people and it's still working. At work now and I just found out one of the guys at work also texted me but I didn't get it over the weekend but now I do get texts from him. It's pretty sad that none of the sprint techs thought of that since it's on the sprint site but for a mobile broadband usb modem oddly.

Thanks :) Found a safe mode for the phone which may help someone in the future as well: Press the END CALL/POWER button and hold the MENU button until the system boots up to the Home Screen. Then the Safe mode notification will be shown on the bottom left of the display. In Safe mode, all 3rd party applications will not be executed so you can boot up your phone successfully to uninstall any applications which you may have recently installed or which may be stopping your phone from booting correctly. The ##786# asks for a password..... what would that be? MSL? I don't have that off hand. |
Re: Sprint HTC Hero Text Messaging Problem
the sprint rep told me the password to enter. i regrettably have just started getting this problem again. its really frustrating. its only on my line too. i use 5000 txts a month and the 2nd line uses about 200, and of course its mine that doesnt work... I will call them again tomorrow, if it doesnt work idk what imna do... try n force them to let me use a droid on their network i guess...
