Sprint Hero Android 2.0
Will Sprint's Hero be getting Android 2.0?
I'm having a hard time with my next phone upgrade and I'm leaning towards the hero. If anyone has a link showing that the Sprint Hero will get it I think I'm sold...The Samsung Moment is looking pretty tempting though. |

Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0

Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0
I thought that the sprint hero had 1.6, because it included the cdma stack needed for sprint.
|
Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0
Its actually running a hax0red 1.5 that includes CDMA cooked in by HTC/Sprint.
It probably is the root cause for the delay. |
Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0
well the AMOLED display on the Moment looks pretty nice...hard call.
|
Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0
I will still have 15 days after the Moment comes out to see if I want to change..
Nice screen and 800mhz proc.. but stock andriod and thicker... |
Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0
I have had my sprint hero for about 1.5 week. I am really happy with it. The SenseUI is a beautiful UI for the Android. Makes it seems like an Iphone but better. Very easy to use and intuitive. Screen is sharp and the 5MP camera with auto focus take great photos. The integration and cosolidation of the apps (facebook, sms, flickr, etc.) which ties to individual contacts is super intuitive and a really good idea.
There are a few issues (mostly software) and those are easily fixable and I am sure HTC and or Sprint will come up with a fix soon enough. In the meantime, there are work arounds and forums like this one really help. I saw video of samsung UI and I am not impressed. HTC SenseUI all the way!! |
Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0
Tuffgong4, I don't blame you on the AMOLED display. I was seriously tempted by that too. Unfortunately, I just prefer on screen keyboards over the physical ones. And HTC did such a nice job putting a pretty face on top of Android with Sense (just like they did with WM and Touchflo3d) that it is hard to not want one (HTC Hero). Very nice phone by the way.

Just want to add a little. I have had phones with keyboards and without. The best on screen kb as far as prediction I have used is the hero's. My tp's slider caused problems all the time and died twice. While i love the hero I can say that I hope HTC and Sprint don't drag their feet on an update like every other phone. last I saw tp1 was still awaiting an official update! But the hero is sweet and no probs for me that there isn't a workaround for so far! |
Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0
the moment is still slower though right? I read a rumor about the HTC Dragon coming to sprint......1 ghz Snapdragon......and eclair!
|
Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0
I heard the same if that's true I'll have to find some way to upgrade. Sounds like the dragon will be a super Hero lol.

Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0
I was never considering The Moment. But if I was, the rubber covers on the usb and headphone jack are deal breakers for me.

hen i used to have phones with those rubber covers it was always the thing that i ripped off first. always in the way when you wanted to plug something in. lol |
Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.0
The Hero is in fact getting 2.0. HTC is skipping 1.6 and working on 2.0 now if you haven't heard already.
