Battery Usage info
 

Anyone getting longer than about 10 hours moderate use with the hero?

I was at 14% remaining after 9hr 59min unplugged when I looked at my battery usage. Nearly 75% of my usage accredited to Cell Standby and Phone idle.

I am using Fresh Rom and the newest radio.

Anyone experiencing anything like this?

Sometimes I have the same issue, sometimes I don't. I don't know what causes the different usages durations for me, usage or non usage doesn't seem to factor in. I always leave it to charge until its 100%, sometimes I get 8 hours, sometimes I get 48, its really weird. I use the fresh 2.1.2 ROM, and the newest radio, but have had this with other radios / ROMS. I can be on the phone all day texting, internet, whatever and it doesn't seem to phase it, other days I leave it on my desk all day but it just kills the battery.

I use curvefish's Batterlife widget, which gives a % of battery left, and really helps out, all i can say is get a car charger($15 @walmart,) they come in quite handy when you end up with a bogus charge!

Is this battery issue common with all heros or just some of them?

It depends on what your phone is doing all the time. I ran Fresh Rom, one of the most current variations, and had the FB widget (update every half hour), beautiful widget home small, and Handcent widget. I didn't use anything else and I was getting amazing battery life out of my Hero. I text A LOT and get a decent amount of emails as well.

my battery life was horrible on the stock rom. i rooted it and flashed fresh's 2.1 and it help it considerably.

I haven't really noticed any difference between being rooted and not when it comes to battery life, but I do not have it set to check for stuff I do it all manually. I was under the impression that battery life issues were all related to notifications, but I could be wrong.
