Google Earth on 2.1 Hero
I was wondering if anyone has been able to get this to work? I am running fresh 2.1.1 and I can't seem to download it. Is google earth still only for the Nexus one?

Re: Google Earth on 2.1 Hero
So frustrating....according to Google:
Google Earth is currently available on Nexus One, iPhone, and Droid. Regardless of which phone you have, you can visit m.google.com/earth using your phone's web browser to get the link to download Google Earth. Following that link, of course, doesn't work on the Legend, Hero, G1, or Desire. Since the Desire is also a 1ghz phone, my theory that Google was intentionally holding Google Earth away from slower processors is incorrect. There are many threads already started complaining about this on Google's Android forum. Even more troublesome, is Google's answer to the fragmentation problem: http://technologizer.com/2010/05/23/...fragmentation/ It seems like there's no end in sight. If I had been at that meeting I would have held out my Hero and said "No fragmentation? Then please install Google Earth on my HTC Hero running Android 2.1." |

I don't disagree that we're never going to see it, but I don't think it's for the reason that you clearly made up. I simply don't think they'll put Google Earth on an Android phone running less that a 1ghz Snapdragon type processor.
And that being the case, they should at least acknowledge that fragmentation exists on their platform. |

Re: Google Earth on 2.1 Hero
The Droid is running a screen resolution of 480x854 with a processor speed of 550mHz while the Hero is running a screen resolution of 320x480 and the processor speed is 528mHz. The Nexus One also runs at a resolution of 480x800. So I think the evidence is right there the Hero will probably never have Google Earth just because of the resolution can't support it not necessarily the processor speed. Hope this helps
