Is a "read error" normal during auto-root?

So, without there being any solution to my previous thread on huge battery drain, I just decided to restore the phone and reroot it. After some problems, I managed to get it rooted fine. At least, I think.

During the last leg of it, I noticed a string of errors (as shown below). Is this normal? Did it root fine?

Your recovery image didn't flash. If i were you, i'd just install it manually. The latest is 1.6.2.

Yeah, that's what I thought, so I'm trying to restore the phone back to factory default (Hard reset & also via the Settings options). Only problem is that doing that 4 times still doesn't make it true factory default (some apps like Stocks, Nascar, etc, are still removed). But, I'm hoping it still is close enough to start from scratch again.

You don't have to go back to stock. You can just pick up where you left off.

Yup, I flashed that image, following all instructions properly, it went smoothly.

Only thing I'm just curious on is where to find the Battery Widget. It's not found in my Android or HTC Widget folders. Something I have to flash via zip?

The HTC battery widet is actually in the marketplace. It is only for htc sense devices. However, i have heard that the htc battery widget increases your drain. I usually use curvefish's battery life myself. I recommend experimenting a bit with them. Have fun!

Actually, the battery widget I was using was Curvefish's. Really, the real reason I had to reset and reroot was because of a big battery drain (100% to 52% in 7 hours while I was sleeping), so hearing that a certain widget gave drain, I figured I'd play it safe and reroot. Still confused me on what would drain that fast.

I'll tell you what, there is a whole shit-ton of stuff i understand, but there is still quite a bit about android i know nothing about. I hope your battery makes it :) I'm sure the re-root fixed it.

Well, with everything seeming to be in working order, I'll be keeping a close watch on my battery. Maybe my background data was enabled and somehow it weirdly sucked the battery nearly dry in 7 hours (i.e., it once pushed a notification that I got an e-mail from Gmail, even tho I know I turned off Push/Sync.).

Thanks for the help, tho!
