ok where do i get these one click fresh rooter ...and am confused about the back up thing do i do that in the root process...
man my hero cant play youtube vids most of the time will these fix it..plus like all htc phones lacks of internal memory want to use my sd card for apps like tps,,
can i do that use the droid msrket apps on sd???

http://Geekfor.me is Flipzmode's website. He is the overlord of Hero tweaks and mods. Most roms have Apps2sd built in, but there is a little bit of work involved in making it happen (its easy, but a little weird).

The youtube issue is actually a problem with google's servers thinking your IP address is in china, so it blocks you. This is fixed in android 2.1 but, for the time being, there are just some quick, temporary fixes.
The backup i think you are referring to is a Nandroid backup, which literally saves every single file stored on the entire phone, so if you have a problem, flash a bad rom, deleted something important, etc. you can just roll back to a perfect snapshot of the operating system at an earlier date.

I was very used to flashing custom ROMs with windows mobile, having 3 different devices at different times. I gave no second thought on getting the hero when I got my hands on it, and saw how much of a relief it was from wm..The first chance I got to flash my hero I did, it was complicated and after I thought I was done, I still didn't know if my hero was rooted.. Being familiar with HTC was a big help. The combo-keys needed to get into recovery seems like de ja vu, and I have no worries now its only been 4 months lol..


But the biggest differenceis 2.xx..You HAVE to get a 2.1 ROM on your phone asap..It's like exposure to a different Android world

I hate my Hero, i miss my black berry but since badbuy said they will not take it back because of supposed water damage, i am stuck with it. Once I installed the Fresh 1.1 ROM, wow my phone suddenly doesn't get in it's own way when i am typing and it works like a phone should... And doesnt drop as many calls (but still more than my old BB)....
So YES ROM IT!

A HUUUUUGE con for me is that it doesn't have a physical keyboard but I will try to root mine one of these days since I'm sold on Android
