Problems deleting gmail contacts
 

Okay, so I synced up my Hero with Gmail. The problem is, gmail added everyone I have ever e-mailed into my contacts. I have over 1000 contacts that I deleted in 2 sets. The second set was over 800 contacts and now my phone keeps saying "Sync: Delete limit exceeded There are 802 deleted items for contacts, account mandymariee@gmail.com. What would you like to do? Delete the items, Undo the deletes, Do nothing for now" Anytime I choose a choice, it does nothing. It just tells me the same thing over and over again within a few minutes. How do I get rid of this message? They aren't in my contacts anymore either

Okay, so I fixed the original problem, by deleting all the contacts I didn't need out of my gmail account... it just said "66 contacts", in the error message, which are the ones I kept.

Then I pressed undo delete and they were put back into my contacts on my phone..

Problem is .. I don't want them on my phone... I just want them in my gmail account. So how can I delete them off my phone, without deleting them in my gmail account? Is this possible?

you can add all your phone contacts to their own group and only have your phone sync that specific group.
