Re: msl master subsidy lock

I came straight out and asked for it, when I was asked why I simply said I wanted to change the slot cycle time to poll the towers more often. A friend of mine didn't like the direct approach and made up internet problems so they would have to give it to him as they do the walk thru trouble shootings.

Call up and ask. If they question it, tell them you wiped the device and have to reprogram it with your number.

How does Sprint know what the msl's are? Is it a randomly assigned number and they have a database or is it an algorithm based off of the ESN?

I'm not certain but it has to be based off the ESN because the number does not change unless the device changes like upgrading your phone.

The MSL is tied to the phone, and is in the Sprint database. Employees need that number to activate phones onto your account (at least the phons that don't auto-program themselves).

Stupid question, but why did you need the MSL in the first place?

If you have another sprint phone, you can just do a swap online. After you've done the swap online (and then the swap back), it will give you instructions for setup on your phone. You'll get some info and two codes:

Secondary 6-digit code: xxxxxx
One-time 6-digit code: xxxxxx

The secondary 6 digit code is the MSL number.

if you type ##MSL# into your phone, it will allow you to change the MDN and MSID numbers
