Swype Beta For Hero

1 Attachment(s)
I believe this is also posted in the Eris forum, but I thought you guys might also enjoy this. Attached is the Swype beta originally only available for the droid and nexus one, but it has been resized and works beautifully on our Heroes! Just unzip, copy over to SD and install with a file explorer. Enjoy!

Do you have Settings>Applications>Unknown sources checked?

Re: Swype Beta For Hero

I used Astro file manager to install this, works like a charm.

Pretty neat. It keeps typing duck when I want to say something else....My swear word benchmark. :P

Ok got it working. The problem was that I had the original one that didn't work still installed. After uninstalling it, rebooting and installing this one, it worked. Thanks op.

to teach it a new work, tap out the word like you would normally would without swype and then press space. the next time you swype the word it will work or be an option.

To enable it go to: settings> locale&text

Then put a check mark next to swype.

Finally, find a text box and long press it. You will get a menu to choose your input preference. Choose swype and you're done.

Going to take some getting used to but overall it seems pretty spiffy! I'll have to play with it some more. Thanks for posting this!

Thank for that. I was trying to figure out how to make it my keyboard of choice, it's amazing how simple it is sometimes :) Gotta say I was skeptical ever since I heard of this but it is pretty neat.

Downloaded the zip file, renamed to .apk.zip, loaded it up, installed and restarted. Appeared normally in the Settings Menu as described. Trying w/Handcent and Dolphin, works just fine. It's a bit slower than Shapewriter but has a much nicer interface. Good stuff all around, thx.

It says it's expired when I run it, makes me wait 160 seconds or something. If the screen turns off, clock starts over. :( can't use.

Its because today is backwards day, if you are right handed, you have to use the mouse with your left hand to click the link.:headbang:

Fantastic!....Thanks for the download. Been reading about this but didn't know where to get Swype that would work with Sprint Hero. Swype should be on all new phones. Helps improve my sorry texting inputs.
