you should be able to flash it over what you have (as long as you have a 1.5 rom on your phone now). I usually always do a wipe anyways though. You shouldn't need to

Your force closes were bc you had too many apps installed and with the extra sprint apps it broke the phone so to speak.

Yes manually push it the old way. Might try the kitchen to c if it works.
