1. Navigate to Control Panel - Devices and Printers
2. Locate 'Android Phone' under Devices
3. Right click on the icon and select properties.
4. Click on the hardware tab.
5. Listed will probably be 'HTC Dream composite interface' or similar.
6. Highlight this entry and click on properties.
7. In the properties dialogue box under the general tab at the bottom click 'change settings'.
8. When the dialogue box reappears click on the 'Driver' tab.
9. Select the 'Update Driver' option.
10. On the first screen select the second option 'Browse my computer for driver software'.
11. In the next screen select the second option 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.
12. You should then be faced with 2 options on the next screen under Model, either 'HTC Dream Composite ADB Interface' or 'My HTC'.
13. Select 'My HTC' and that will install the correct drivers and then you should be good to go.

I hope this helps.
Paul
Worked for me.

Re: HTC Sync and Win7 update

the vista work around drivers are no longer needed.. if W7 is still trying to use win update to grab those garmin drivers.... just delete the drivers w7 installed, turn internet off, hook you phone up to pc, when or if it asks which drivers you would like to install, navigate to porgrams or programsx86 folder htc/drivers/windows7.. the x86 is for 64bit and the reg program folder is 32bit

hope that helps.

Or you can do what I did after I updated to those garmin drivers. With the phone connected open the device manager. Right click on the Android item and the drivers tab and select roll back driver.

Ya know I tried that several times, but for some reason W7 would always seek the garmin drivers out after i reconnected my phone, pissed me off something fierce, but hey... at least its not vista! lol

and not to change this topic... but I'm damn impressed with W7, best OS since win2000 nt server ED. IMO! btw when was that released??? 199? at least they finally got it right.

The 2.0.18 is for the European GSM Hero's. As of 1/19/2010 HTC North American customer support says they currently offer no support for Win 7 and all that is available for download is 2.0.8
