The new versions of google maps call on libraries that the hero doesn't possess at present. 2.1 update will probably blow your mind.

go here http://geekfor.me/category/downloads/ and download the .02 kitchen as the apps are in a folder or use the installer . Or you can use the separate download for stock apps. I have also included the Google maps latest update compatible with the Hero

No it doesn't I am sure because that is for 1.6 only.

hey, with the file you attached, did you just put that into the root of your sd card and flash it?

forgive me for the silly question , but why update Google Maps if the GPS function doesnt work on the Hero? am i missing something ?

GPS function works fine. you just have to turn it on!!!

sorry i probaly should have explain abit better ... i have the stock google maps and i cant seem to get street view ..from reading, it is my understanding that street view is only avalible on 2.1 . and i also ment GPS navigation ( turn by turn ) .. now i have seen the new google maps for 2.1 and all that does work ...so my question was if your not getting all of that , what is the point of upgrading now ? did the maps its self change??

Street view works on all versions. You are correct, Google Maps Nav doesn't work on 1.5.
