Delete Handcent Threads
 

Does anyone know why I can't delete text threads in handcent? If I try and ues the delete all threads option it freezes my hero and im forced to do a soft reset. Also, if I try and delete the threads one by one it works, but only if the thread has less than like 20 texts.If it has more than 20 or so then it freezes again. Any ideas?

More than likely with large amounts of texts, it is just gonna take a long time to delete them. Are you rooted?

No im not rooted and all of my threads except one have less than 50 texts. No matter how long I wait it always eventually freezes or forces close.

Yea happrned to me n mine had about 1000 txts or more (me n gf txt alot) n I learned it easier to just use stock messaging app to delete and handcent to txt, hope it helps :/

Well, once you decide to root, if you ever do, Freshs kitchen has a new option to clear text messages out in just a few seconds.

lol guess I'm screwed with the 4k messages between gf and I. guess I'm gonna have to root soon...

You can always try and see if you can use the kitchen without rooting. I dont know if it will work but its always worth the try. Have you updated your handcent? Apparently they updated 2 days ago and was supposed to increase the speed and fix some other issues. Oh and from my understanding, the auto root feature in the kitchen has been fixed and seems to be working.

I used to have the same problem, it'd take 10mins or more sometimes to delete a thread with 200 messages. Since I installed Advanced Task Manager I can delete a 200 message thread in a couple of seconds. I'm guessing something was running in the background causing the deletes to take for ever.
Now if Handcent had a setting where you could set a max number of msg's in a thread and it'd auto delete that'd be awesome! I personally have no need to have thousands of messages kept...

Or you can use the kitchen to root, it is a pretty painless method.
