Sprint Hero and Sero Plan?

I currently have a Sprint Touch Pro2 on the old Sero Plans. I want to get a hero of here or craigslist. Before i do, i'd like to make sure ill be able to use it with my Sero Plan.

So any of you guys with the Sprint Hero using it on an old Sero Plan?

nope, as soon as you try to activate, you will have to "upgrade" your the plan to the more modern expensive sero

Re: Sprint Hero and Sero Plan?

The upgraded sero plan is pretty much just $10 off the everything data 450, so you'd be looking at $60 a month.

I'm amazed you got a TP2 on a SERO plan. But I don't think you'll get it to work. No one else has that I know of.

Dude, please find out. Why? Because if its sero, you're the ONLY MF that has done it!!!

This needs to be known if true. Even if its not SERO, what did you do to get the same price with all of the benefits?

Reply out of duty to all cell users. This is a serious issue!

No you cant get a hero on the old sero plan. I ve tried numerous times, talked to every supervisor but cant cant be done so I had to the Everything Plus plan. I was reading somewhere that any Windows Mobile Phones can still work on old Sero but any Android phones dont. Try it out on Sprint.com, if u had the old sero plan and try to buy the hero it will ask you to change it but if you buy the TP2 you can still keep it.

everybody has their tp2 on sero, including me. Tp2 is not required to have sep plan.

To the op, your hero will not work on sero but they will offer you a new sero plan but nothing as good as 29.99 sero, almost as good as 49.99 sero though.
they will offer you 59.99 500 minutes, unlimited any MOBILE TO MOBILE (any carrier) unlimited text, data, and sprint nav included. the hero works with this plan, as well as the palm pre and instinct.

If you get a hero activated on sero, you will be very lucky. You are better off keeping the TP2, and then load android on it. Looks like the development is close to 100%. Give it some time, and 2.0.1 will be on your TP2!!!

Re: Sprint Hero and Sero Plan?

I want to clear up some misinformation on this thread.

First off, Android porting is not very far along for the TP2. Last time I checked I'd dare say it was (and this is a generous estimate) 40%. None of the hardware is supported naively yet. I.E. there are no drivers yet. You can't even get sound or data without doing some little hacks on top of the installation. Camera, light sensor, graphics card, etc are all not supported yet. You can basically just make calls, but you can't hear anything and they can't hear you.

Secondly, Sprint is trying to phase out the old SERO plans. You are grandfathered in forever, but they try to force you out by blocking the phones you can activate on the network. Touch Pro 2's are fine, but there is no "luck" involved with activating a Hero. They specifically and purposefully block it.

You cannot activate a Hero or most modern smart phones on the older SERO plans.

Doesn't matter how many customer support people you talk to.

However, you CAN use a Hero or any CDMA device on the Sprint network including a SERO plan. Notice the difference in my wording. Bottom line, it is possible to get it working, but as far as I know, it's not legal and it is a rather tricky and involved process.

For those of you who know what you're doing and really want to do this, I'll give you a hint: Google "ESN Swapping".

Cheers :-)

Re: Sprint Hero and Sero Plan?

I am confused, I have the Simply Everything Unlimited and did not have to change my plan when I got my Hero, it still shows the same plan online and on my statement.

Re: Sprint Hero and Sero Plan?

^ That's not a sero plan

Re: Sprint Hero and Sero Plan?

the current phones that do not work on SERO (without "modifications" to the phone) are:

Instinct (and Instinct 2)
Pre ( and Pixi)
Hero (and Moment)
