new hero user.... quick question

I just got my Hero for christmas, and Im loving it so far. I have a question about apps running in the back ground.

Ive rooted my phone and am still running the stock firmware, and I have Advanced Task Killer installed to kill back ground apps. Sometimes when i open it to kill programs, there are programs that I havent opened that are running, such as sprint nav and voice dialer.

is this normal for apps to open, or do they open because other apps need to run those programs in order to function (ie- layars, bonsai blast, es file explorer)?

thanks

i am not sure why these apps open on their own, but i do know that is normal. Look into a custom rom to remove the sprint bloatware, or you can remove the programs you don't use manually through adb

advice is to lose the task killer . two reasons why. it will lag your phone and drain your battery faster. Also with android you can back out the apps with the button on the lower right. its different from winmo with the memory. at 30 % memory you wont really notice a diff with android

This is an outstanding post on why task killers are not necessary. http://androidforums.com/184914-post1.html

Wow, I found this post to be very helpful in explaining the pros/cons of having a Taskiller. I have removed mine now, and will report back with performance speeds and things of that nature. peace-br
