Random Reboots?
 

Ok all

2 days in a row now this hero has been in my pocket and out of the blue it just reboots itself. No idea why. The only things that I've changed are using handcent for sms, new seidio innocase, and i'm in a terrible roaming area for work at the moment.

This is really random. Anybodies else just randomly rebooting? ](*,)

Ok So.. To bring this up a little bit. Had the wifi turned on because I was using it from the hotel this morning and now that i'm at the clients there is no wifi here for me to use. SOOO once i've shut it off it seems to have fixed the issues. I Don't know just strange

I have the same thing. Recently, the phone as rebooted twice. Once was over night, and the other time, it was in my pocket, so it hasn't affected my phone usage. Wi-fi has been turned off. I'm also on stock rom, 1.56.

could it be a heat issue? maybe the phone reboots when it reaches a certain temp

my phone never gets warm, even when streaming videos, talking on the phone, etc. I even have a silicone cover for the phone. The phone has rebooted on its own 3 times since I got it on Oct 9. If it starts affecting my phone usage, I'll use insurance to get another one.

I can't be a heat issue. I'm working from the clients 65 degree server room with the phone sitting practically under the ac unit on the counter. I really doubt it's heat at this point.

I went back to the market and the noticed there was a handcent update for the version I had. I installed the update and we'll see what happens. It hasn't done it yet this afternoon. The only thing different here is the fact that I'm in a roaming area and it's constantly roaming while I'm the town of the clients.

I have the same issue twice this week. Once in the middle of a call! I did install the new update for handcent, and will keep an eye on this issue.

The only thing that I could think of is a handcent upgrade. After I upgraded to the latest and greatest update I haven't had a random reboot since

Hope that works out for you, but I know Handcent isn't causing my random reboots because I 've never installed it before. This has happened on both stock and custom rom, so I guess it's back to the drawing board for me.

Do you have more than 70 applications installed?

No, I only have about a dozen apps installed.

Hmmm... Sprint heros sometimes have problems with reboots after 70 apps are installed.

My rebooting issue was due to the fact that I flashed to fresh1.1 then backed it up, then flashed to modaco, then restored fresh backup. I had to wipe, then flash to the rom I wanted. No issues since then.

I first noticed the random reboot issue with Fresh 1.1 (had no problem with 1.0), but am continuing to have random reboots since flashing back to stock (happened twice today).

Well, Sprint is telling me it's a hardware malfunction and are replacing the phone. I would suggest anyone else experiencing this issue do the same!

I wonder if this has something to do with our phones switching back and forth between roam and sprint networks because I also get a weak signal at work. I can't remember the random reboots occurring any other time, so I'll see if my replacement phone does the same thing and report back.

Random Reboot yesterday in crappy coverage. I was typing in a Handcent pop-up.

Just got my replacement phone from Sprint and I'm going to test it for about a week before I report my findings. Let's just say the problem is caused by areas of poor coverage where our phones are constantly switching back and forth between roaming and Sprint networks. Would that be a software or hardware issue?

I had a random reboot 2 days ago, and nothing since then. I was in perfect coverage as I was at work, and I usually get about 4bars of service there and average 1.2mb of DL speed.... Hmmm...

I haven't had a random reboot in a while. So I'm not sure what the deal is.

I tested out the refurbished phone from Sprint for a few days and didn't experience any random reboots. I didn't test it any longer than that because it was one of the refurbished phones with dust under the screen and was annoying the heck out of me. Anyway, I reverted back to my original Hero and have not had any random reboots for some time. My guess would be that it was a software glitch, but it seems to have been remedied now. Therefore, the refurbished phone was sent back to Sprint.

i have random rebootings when phone is in sleep. many claim this is caused by 2.1 update and to reinstall. did all that and no fix. just got replacment phone n it came w/ 2.1 and works fine... except it has a speaker issue so back to sprint... again!
