Wtf

So, all was going well with my hero. It was great and i had and still have no complaints. Then, the day before yesterday, it died (battery wise, that it). This struck me as a bit unusual, and seeing as how it was later in the day i shrugged it off and charged it for the rest of the night. The today, i went in to work at 730. My battery was down to 34 % by 930 and my battery was hot as shit. Now, all day, i've been fighting its discharge and trying to not burn my hand all day. I uninstalled every app i've installed since the day before the problem arose, and nothing is helping. Any ideas?

If you have wifi tether accidentally running this will happen. Someone had this same problem and it was because wifi tether was running. If not it could be that something isn't downloading correctly and the data keeps running constant. Try a task manager to see whats taking up processor power.

I see. I had this problem when I tried to connect someone to Facebook and it didn't work right.

You are on Fresh right? Ask flipz if he has seen this. You didn't de-fresh with something Godzson made did you?

Funny you mentioned this. I was at work today (Long Beach, CA) and when I went to check my Hero in my pocket I was greated with a display warning that it was dangerously low on power. I've had this device since day one and have never experienced this. Maybe there was no signal, who knows?! Just seemed a little strange. By the way, not rooted.
Hope you solve your issue, or that it was just a fluke.

Re: Wtf

Weird! My Hero started doing the same thing last Weds. I thought it was because I was roaming a lot that day. But then Sunday I didn't touch my phone all day, when I picked it up it was warm and had a low battery. I'm using MoDaCo with the first unofficial patch.

Is anyone using Autostarts ? This is the only app I installed before this started happening. Last night I did a complete wipe/restore, and only installed Twidroid and Google Maps. So I will report back later on today.

EDIT: I also ran some crazy all in one cache eraser around the same time started happening.

Re: Wtf

My guess was locale, any app you add that causes the GPS to look for location more than 1 time a second causes the problem, to the best of my knowledge. Flipz should have it fixed soon.
