Unable to receive SMS after MoDaCo image install
 

I rooted, recovered, MoDaCo'd my HTC Hero from Sprint just fine after a few hours.
However, the next day I realized I was no longer receiving Text messages (Sending seems fine).
I went back to my earliest Nandroid backup (post-root, post-recovery image install).
This did not fix my issue.

I even went as far as downloading the original stock image, and loading that.
This resulted in bringing this back to factory state (inc. unrooting, recovery image removal).
However, I'm still unable to receive SMS.

Spoke to Sprint support.
They see lots of inbound SMS traffic to my phone during this period. They show it as delivered.

I'm not getting notifications of SMS or anything. Just not receiving any.
Anyone have this similar issue?

I've gone thru the whole process now. Still unable to receive test messages.

Went back to original image.
Stepped thru the rooting and recovery process.
Installed MoDaCo img again.

All thru out, still unable to receive texts.

There was an issue with Hero's stopping receiving SMS messages prior to the maintenance update a few weeks ago... Had Modaco incorporated that update in his ROM?

I believe that prior to the maintenance update, the only fix was a phone exchange.

That is correct.

Luckily. I was still within the first 30 day grace period.
Restored the original .img.
Then sat on Sprint phone support trying things for 1 1/2 hours (they never asked for the img version).
Nothing worked.

Took it to the sprint store I bought it from.
They updated the code. That didn't work either.
So the exchanged it for a new phone for free.

I only have a few days left before my grace period is over. I'm contemplating whether to give this another shot...

Maybe there is a newer MoDaCo ROM?
Or perhaps another ROM which may work?
