Hero sucks at mutlitasking??
Love my hero, but one thing that is driving me absolutely F***ING crazy is they onscreen keyboard. If ANYTHING is happing in the backing it is slow as molasses and almost painful to type one because it takes forever for it to recognize what i pressed, and sometimes it even thinks that i'm holding the screen button down and will put in the "?" or whatever is the secondary icon for that key. I can tell when i'm getting a text when i'm typing because all the above will start to happen for about 5-10 seconds and then finally it will tell me i have a text and the keyboard will start acting normal again. Am I the only one with this issue? Havent seen anyone else talk about it.

Re: Hero sucks at mutlitasking??
I sent the an email to handcent regarding the keyboard lag issue. Hopefully, they take a look into solving this issue.

Re: Hero sucks at mutlitasking??
I third that/HTC on the back and a slight lag at times.. I also noticed its a major difference when im on a rom and off on. The Sprint original is slow and laggy. On a Rom this thing flies

Re: Hero sucks at mutlitasking??
Have you guys tried taking the haptic feedback off and just enabling the sound feedbAck in handcent? This has helped speed things up abit for me. Le me know how it goes.

Re: Hero sucks at mutlitasking??
My phone is a with google phone. And i do use handcent and that does seem to be where it happens the worst. When i do it with google chat it still happens but its no where near as bad as when i am using handcent. i'm really hoping that this is just a side effect from HTC haxoring 1.5 to work on CDMA phones. I hope that the 2.0 or 2.1 update really speeds this phone up alot

Re: Hero sucks at mutlitasking??
I'm not using haptic feedback and it still happens, but I can see where that would cause it to slow a little.

Wirelessly posted (HTC Hero: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.5; en-us; A6277 Build/CUPCAKE) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1)
I'll try living without Handcent for a bit, atleast until that next update. |
Re: Hero sucks at mutlitasking??
my friend says it's better with different keyboard. I think he's using better keyboard and when I tried to confirm this by dl ling from marketplace, they want to charge me $3 for it. Anyone already have this and can confirm it?

Ok I'm typing in portrait on stock SIP. Now landscape. Both are kind of laggy. This is after a restart. Going to setup better keyboard & reboot. Ok, installed better keyboard & rebooted. Typing in portrait. Now in landscape. I like the options that better keyboar offers, but the lag is MUCH worse. It is 2 full words behind me, at least. The text prediction is good but typo correction is poor. Took me 5m to type this. Stock sip all the way! Back on my comp now. That was on better keyboard 4.0.1. I really wanted to like it. I was already trying to think of how I could work out a deal with the author for fresh users. ha. But it is absolutely terrible on our hero. It literally took me over 5 minutes to type those few sentences. Try it out if you want to see how good the stock SIP is. Haha. |

HTC did very well on the kybd, unrivaled on android IMHO. |

Re: Hero sucks at mutlitasking??
Has anyone tried the Shape writer trial, it's the swipe to text app that just came out.
