does the hero need a screen protector
up until now, i've only had phones with resistive screens. in my experience, these always need screen protectors. do capacitive screens like the one on the hero need a screen protector?
thanks. |
Re: does the hero need a screen protector
As a general rule Capacitive screens are harder and not as susceptible to scratches as a Resistive Screen..... especially since you arent using a stylus or any other device than your finger on the screen.
That being said, the hero has a tempered glass screen, and it should be fairly scratch resistant. |
Re: does the hero need a screen protector
yes, it needs one. i put them on evry device to be sure, no reason not to imo.

Re: does the hero need a screen protector
Anyone find anything good on the web? Links please!

Re: does the hero need a screen protector
I'd agree that you should get one. It may not need it but it can't hurt. Not to mention in my expierence with similar screens (iTouch) it makes finger prints easier to wipe off. I know the Hero is supposed to have some crap built in that does that but thats a load of crap the screen is a finger print magnet. I mean you can wipe it offf but it still is very visible. I am looking for accessories right now I will post what I find.

Re: does the hero need a screen protector
haha I think the Hero is actually worse when it comes to finger print smudges.
Anyways, wrapped mine with Invisible Shield by ZAGG. http://www.zagg.com/ They didn't have the full body yet, so I opted for just the screen and will pay the difference later. Finger movements aren't as slick anymore, but it is still very responsive... and well the finger movements wouldnt be slick with a fat scratch in the screen either :) |
Re: does the hero need a screen protector
Ok after a quick search here are 3 of the sites I found. I looked at a few others but it looked like most sites have the same offering as of now, I'm sure better stuff is coming. These had reasonable prices and hopefully the quality is good. I think I will be trying the rubberized case from the first link along with my screen protector. I'll let you all know how it goes.

But to the OP, a screen protector never hurts. I'm planning on getting one, and buying a silicone sleeve to protect the rest of the phone. |

I bought a ZAGG on friday along with my Hero. I didn't put it on until last night. I'm not sure I like the feel of it. It almost seems sicky and it prevents fluid swipes. I never would get a full body one. Maybe I just need to get used to it. With my Vogue I always used Write Shield (Anti glare) from http://www.ppctechs.com/ But I just quickly looked and didn't see one for the hero. With my Touch Pro I made it about a whole year with the one it came with =D> |
Re: does the hero need a screen protector
I have a screen protector on it now, but it just annoys me. Though, to be honest, I didn't take the time to make it "perfect" so there are some bubbles under the screen. Still, it's never gonna feel the same as it did without a covering on it.
What I'd love to see is someone do a scratch test on the Hero's screen. Something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eh2g7AIHdc8 If it could handle that kind of abuse, I would probably leave it "naked" like god intended. |
Re: does the hero need a screen protector
I do have one, but honestly, I see little need for it, and it'll probably come off soon.
I'll have the phone a year at most. I do little wear on a phone in a year's time and I find the "look" of cases and screen protectors to detract more than a scratch IMO. As long as function is there, I'm all set. |
Re: does the hero need a screen protector
boxwave makes the best screen protectors imo. I have used them for years, have only brought one protector per phone....they last!

Re: does the hero need a screen protector
Get invisible shield best shield ever just once and it has guaranteed of a lifetime they just give you another one free just send the used one back.... *not that your gonna need it*
best protection eveer :) i have it on my ipod touch, and my hero |
Re: does the hero need a screen protector
I used the bodyguardz on my touch pro and I have it on my hero. It doesn't have the orange peel feel. It does not interfere with scroll nor touch sensitivity.

Re: does the hero need a screen protector

This was in the midst of unanswered and completely ignored inquiries. I'd stay away from boxwave, they don't even have a phone number on their page! |
Re: does the hero need a screen protector
I like to put a screen protector on all my touch screens anymore. Especially since I like to throw my phone in the same pocket as my keys when running out of the apartment in the morning. I like the invisible shield product, but I only get the screen cover and not the full body casing. In my opinion, it gives the phone a rubbery grip feeling and personally, I like the finish of the phone. I would prob get a little bag for the phone. If you play D&D, you could use the dice bag as a great holster that will fit in your pocket or like another guy I saw at sprint, uses his daughters mitten from when she was a kid.

Re: does the hero need a screen protector
I had the same Mogul for two years... no screen protector. Never got a scratch. I'm not worried about the Hero.
