Hermes in Japan?
Howzit! Is there anyone using a Hermes in Tokyo? I know NTT Docomo and Softbank both have the Hermes. What I really want to know is if anyone is able to get wifi access around Tokyo on T-Mobiles Hotspots? Why I ask is that I know for certain that nobody can roam with their phone in Japan. You have to rent a phone there. It's all W-CDMA. Korea also. But I was wondering if anybody is able to access the hotspots with wifi. I mean for free that is.
All of Japans SSID is "0033" I will be going to Japan for the first time without Internet service waiting for me there. I want to take my Apache and just check email thru wifi. Just like a PDA with my cell radio off. Anybody??? |
Ok guys thanks anyways. I found out my answer myself sorta.. It seems that the Cingular Hermes and treo 750 and i think 1 other phone but not too sure that can actually roam in japan. Ya gotta have UTMS 2100. Which is basically W-CDMA in Japan. Still trying to find out exactly what data rates are like though. The cingular site says $0.0195 per Kb. Hmmm checking mail = how many Kb??? again?? haha. Go figure. Anyways, seriously thinking about moving to cingular now.....dammit!
