Re: Evo Shift 4g Rooted!

Finally got some time yesterday to root my shift. Followed the instructions to a "T". Got it on the first shot, no issues. Seems to actually run faster . Anyway, now lets see about overclocking it :) .

Overclocking is just as easy, if you need help flashing the kernel let me know but you should get it first try. Remember you can't flash the 1.8 kernal without flashing the 1.51 one first.

I may be a retard but I tried searching for the 1.8ghz kernel and can't find it. A lil help please?

Thanks

Thanks!

I see a BFS-BFQ test 1 1.8 OC kernel also. Have you tried it?

Re: Evo Shift 4g Rooted!

I haven't, I'm still running the 1.51 kernel as I don't see any need to overclock further. I'll probably flash the 1.8 eventually just to see if my processor can do it and to say I can haha. People on XDA are saying you need to flash the 1.51 kernel before you can flash the 1.8 for some reason. Also don't forget to clear the Dalvik cache.

Re: Evo Shift 4g Rooted!

I had the 1.51 kernel, and flashed the 1.8 a few hrs ago without wiping the Dalvik cache. I guess I got a good processor cuz Its been running fine but I'm gonna set it to 1.2 unless I need it faster.

I didn't know I had to wipe Dalvik when flashing kernels. I'll wipe it and flash it again to be safe.

Thanks

Re: Evo Shift 4g Rooted!

Yeah I didn't realize I needed to clear it before flashing a kernel either when I flashed the 1.51. I still haven't cleared it and everything is running fine, I don't think it's a *huge* deal from what I've read about it. It seems similar to doing a task 29 before flashing a WM ROM, little bits and pieces from applications can be left over from old ROMS and such, so the system gets confused. I dunno, seemed to be something like that.

Found the thread and overclocked. Can do 1.8 ondemand all day no issues :headbang:. But keep it at 1.6 ondemand for logevity sake.
