EVO 4G Discontinued?

Wife dropped her EVO today and cracked the screen. The guy at the Sprint store said the EVO is no longer made. Can anyone else confirm this?

Re: EVO 4G Discontinued?

The EVO was declared "End of Life" back near the end of October - or there abouts. That does not mean that sprint no longer supports it and in some places, it is still available. If you had insurance on it, Sprint should be able to replace or repair it for you.

What's up Dave!!! Long time no see. You know you got another NRG link that you need to add onto your signature, he's cooking ROM's for the Evo, below is the link in case you haven't seen it. Merry Christmas bro.

Evos are still left in some sprint stores, but yes its gone for the most part due to the HTC evo design 4g taking its place. Plus the design has about the same specs with better battery life

Nope I meant the design did. The 3d was the upgraded better specs. If you compare specs from evo to design they are almost identical. Plus according to sprint that was the replacement

Re: EVO 4G Discontinued?

I think the EVO 3D was more of an upgrade being dual core and the 3D ability, ect and the EVO 4G Design being more similar to the EVO 4G (w/ a upgrade to a sim card for international.) They both kinda took the place in different ways.

rootlinux 12-29-2011 03:04 AM

I still love my EVO.
Don't even think the 3d is better.

I agree, nothing else has grabbed my attention or is worth the upgrade for me, and I'll have it until I break it and can't replace it.

Thundaar2000 12-29-2011 10:57 PM

Same here. I am due a new upgrade but there isn't anything good enough. The design is slated to get ics whenever it comes out.

It does have lots more RAM / ROM
(769meg / 4gig) than original EVO. ALSO 1.2 ghz processor

rootlinux 01-23-2012 04:21 PM

Wirefly has the EVO 4G for 9.99 on new contract.

Wow that's cheap! I'm still holding out for something better. Don't get me wrong, I like my Evo. But there is always something better around the corner! :-D

The Samsung galaxy 2 isn't on the Sprint site anywhere. Is it a Verizon only deal?

yeah but tbh i always hated that name. they could of just called it the galaxy s 2.

rootlinux 01-24-2012 12:53 AM

Best Buy here still sales the EVO 4G.
I think 99.99 on new contract.

Wirefly has that insane 9.99 sale for a new contract.

Not sure what I will upgrade to if I do.

I was too, until i used an Epic, and now an Epic Touch! Samsung takes the cake, Superior hardware!

I have used several Samsung devices in past.
Starting with the Instinct, which was OK till Sprint sent updates.
Went through three of those.
My mom had one as did my brother. All of them junk.

My wife recently had the Transform.
She went through I think four of those. All junk! She got upgraded to an HTC EVO and hasn't looked back.

I am skeptical of any Samsung device now.
However I did have an N900 I think it was. Way back in the day.
Was a great flip style device even though all the flip did was cover the keys.

I can understand that. I had a Samsung moment and wasn't impressed, but it was their first Android device.

The Epic was worlds better and the epic touch is in a different league better! I'm still not sure why they even made the Transform, lower specs than the epic.

Samsung makes cheap devices plus the updates suck and take forever. I will admit the sg2 looks good but ive been burnt by sammy 3x already.

I will get a dumb phone before I get anything Samsung has to offer.
Had the Mogul, Touch Pro and now the EVO. All have been great.
Will stick with HTC as long as they continue making great devices.

I have a 3500 extended on mine. ;)
No worries here.
Would rather buy an extended and have a solid device than a good stock battery and unstable device.

Had an extended on my Touch Pro as well.
