new revolutionary root issue

i rooted my evo version 2.3. with revolutionary on 8/15/11 for the first time after taking the ota gb in july. then flashed back to version 2.2. with sprint ruu, my "s" is still "off" and it still has "revolutionary" as original root method when i go into recovery. can i now use unrevoked to root? or not?

Once you obtain S-off you are rooted, method makes no difference root is root. Not sure what you are asking, are you wanting to un-root?

Perhaps you are mistaken your root method for your recovery? The two most popular recovery img are ClockworkMod and ra_ammon...

I think what he's saying/asking is why does it say "revolutionary" at the hboot screen, and he was wanting to install a 2.2 RUU so that he could use unrevoked to get rid of it, why I don't know, but all I know is that I wouldn't unroot my phone again regardless, or take an OTA again, not that I think we are going to get another update for our phones, just saying.

ok, i understand root is root. but why do some roms require
"ra" vs "clock" to flash?

Don't know where you got that at, I have flashed lots of roms and never had an issue regardless of which recovery I used. Now most people will advise using RA instead of CWM, but I have had issues with CWM when trying to install a mod, been a while since I used it so I can't remember the exact name of the install error I got, maybe parsed? Never had an issue with RA though.
