correction revolutionary works for evo 3d and 4g that wasn't the case until recently
 

so i never rooted my evo b4 and i updated to the new gingerbread rom 2.3 the other day. Now I want to root because I want access to a few of the apps that can only be run while rooted. I have been constantly checking back at unrevoked.com in hopes they release a root method for 2.3 rom evo's but i get nothing. A few days ago someone told me alpha rev and unrevoked came out with something called revolutionary that will give you s-off permanently. Thats great news i thought to myself to only be thoroughly disappointed to find out that you can only use revolutionary for the evo 3D and some other phones but not the regular evo..... so my question is has there been any developments towards root for 2.3 on evo i have heard i can't even flash back and then root the old rom do i still have to keep waiting?

8/23/11 edit* I see that this is no longer true go ahead and root you evo 4g now!!!!!!!!

It appears by the activity on this thread, the support by the development community on this device is coming to an end.
I'm ready to get a new device, but I'm waiting for what is going to happen with sprint and LTE.

Nope no headway on root for the OTA 2.3, heard from some people they are working on it but with all the new devices that came out I'm sure it's on the back burner.

If your on hboot 2.16 and S-On then you are pretty much screwed like the rest of us are. Guess we can only wait for them to get it, or switch devices, I'm actually surprised that it's had Dev support this long, but it has been a great phone so far and hope it doesn't die just yet.

Yeah if you read the front page of this website you can see where there is talk of LTE or LTE Advanced, can't remember exactly as it's been a few days since I read it. I would be happy to get good 3G let alone worrying about 4G or LTE or LTE Advanced, I have been battling with Sprint since February to get the service I pay for, and of course all I get is "it will be fixed by the end of the month", and of course the end of that month comes and goes.

oh ok crazy i feel like the evo is not even 1 year old and everyone is moving on so fast. I guess ill be waiting to get a new phone. I could of got the evo 3d but i passed on it because i felt like the phones were just too similar to upgrade and waste my 200 dollar discount on. I guess ill be dealing with sprints crap until next spring when the next hot htc phone will probably drop. btw you are completly right about the sprint 3g i dunno what happen about 2 years ago i used to boast to people about how our 3g was the fastest and i used to prove it to them by playing a youtube video faster and clearer. I am embarrassed now sprint is like the worst 3g out and the 4g isnt the fastest either not to mention kills you bat. I can't get my pandora to play straight anymore without getting buggy and my slingbox app doesn't work period 3 or 4g.

Sprint was kind enough to cripple streaming on the Evo with the last update. I couldn't get grooveshark/sirius/netflix/HBOGO to stream. I found this work around: Sprint Community: Reason and fix for Rdio, Rhapsody,...
just have to call sprint to get your phone's MSL number

Try it today......just rooted my EVO 4g gb stock!
